Moving Data to a New Computer doesn't work as advertised
I've followed the instructions for moving data to a new computer to the letter - twice so far - without any luck. I exported all of the data from Outlook using a deprecated version of TB and can browse everything on the Windows machine in TB, so I know that part functioned properly. I create a new profile on the OS-X side When I copy the contents of the profile directory from Windows to OS-X everything gets moved over and is fully browsable within the Mac Finder. However, when I launch TB the migrated messages are not visible.
What am I missing?

what was the name of the folder you migrated?
Did you start the profile manager and actually select Thunderbird to use that copied folder?
Yes - . Per the instructions I created a profile (the default) then shut down TB. I then took the contents of the exported profile folder on the Windows side and copied them to the profile folder on the OS-X side. This results in a new folder in the TB interface labeled "Outlook Import" with subfolder "Archive Folders" that contains the subfolder "Deleted Items" but nothing else is there.
If I browse the profile subdirectories manually I can see all of the subfolders and messages from the Outlook export, they're just not showing up in the TB interface. I've double checked the profiles.ini and it is pointing to the correct (only) profile directory in the tree.
I have deleted profiles, created new profiles, pointed profiles at directories and every other permutation I can conceive short of sacrificing small farm animals by the light of a full moon while reciting Gregorian Chants.
in the new copied profile delete these files
ALL MSF files (this may see tags lost if your use them on an IMAP account that does not support tags) XULstore.json. Foldertree.json panacea.dat
That should clear enough cached information to force a full rebuild of the folder pane and the folder contents.
No joy. :-(
(and there were tons of MSF files)
