After the upgrade to 35.0 didn't work on my system, I switched to manual upgrade. I tried the first upgrade (to 35.0) several times - I got a screen that was the right shape for the way the browser had looked (see first image) but nothing worked, not even the add-ons link from the top menu. So I "upgraded" back to 34.0.5. Then, when 35.1 came out, tried again with great hopes that it would now work. Not so; same results. So I reinstalled 34.0.5 again and waited. Now 36.1 has appeared and I've tried again. Same story with a slightly different twist. This time the add-ons link worked so I could try disabling some of them. I tried disabling all the ones I don't mind not having, including any that seemed related to bookmarks (which seems to be the main sticking point), but that didn't seem to have any effect. The second image is all of my add-ons at this time; the third shows the add-ons I disabled to see if I could make v.36.1 work. There was no change so I've re-enabled them pending a general assessment of their value to me.

I've tried google searches as well as searching the Mozilla support pages and haven't found any other instance of this. I find it truly amazing if I'm the only one who's had this problem. But either way, whether known or new, I'd surely appreciate some guidance as to what I should do next. I'm not comfortable as the version that works gets further away from the current (presumable more secure) version.

Thanks much!

YouTube High Definition 27.8 and 27.9 is blocked listed and is the only add on that I see is active and on the add on block list.

In order to make sure that it is not the Firefox build can you see if this also happens in a new profile? Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles

I did remove that extension and brought my plug-ins up to date (they mostly were). Then I used trial and error (using a temporary profile - thank you for that!) and, after thissing and thatting, ended up with the culprit. It's tab mix plus, at least for my system. I'm not sure what I'll do for tab management but at least I have a safe and secure browser.

I know a whole lot more about profile manager and how to use it; I've created PDFs of those pages and put them in my help box. Where I might remember them!

Seriously, you did help me solve the problem and I very much appreciate it.
