Why can't I switch between windows w/o minimizing FireFox?

more options

When I have several different application windows open and I'm using the Firefox (FF) browser I must first minimize the FF window in order to view a file in another application window like an Excel. Sometimes when I have two windows (for instance a chat window) open in FF, I cannot get the chat window to move to the top w/o first minimizing FF. The chat window immediately moves to the back w/o first minimizing my current FF window.

These problems do not occur in IE.

Hi Yachtmeister, This may happen when you leave Firefox open for a long period of time. It may be one of the scripts on the page has froze.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

I wound up buying an annual Assure maintenance contract ($149) from Micsosoft. Even though I run MalwareBytes quite often the MS technician found some deeply embedded malware on my machine. He cleaned it up and the problems went away. So all I can say it watch it out there. By the way the Assure contract covers both of my laptops. They do not cover the old OS like Vista and XP.
