Unread mail count not working for filtered messages

I'm using Big Sur OS and downloaded Thunderbird as I prefer the functionality over Mac Mail app. However, I am noticing that only unread messages in the Inbox are displayed on the Thunderbird app badge in dock. Any new email messages that are filtered to folders inside the inbox are not being added to the badge icon as 'unread'.

Is there a way for Thunderbird to add all unread messages that are filtered to the badge icon's total number of unread messages?
