IMAP Server inbox message moved to local folder returns to inbox.

I have an IMAP server (Charter.net / Spectrum) and was the reason to move to Thunderbird after they discontinued POP servers. Everything is PERFECT with Thunderbird, with one exception: ► When a message comes in any inbox and I move it to my local folders for archiving, it gets moved (copied to the local folder and deleled from the inbox)... but when I refresh the inbox, the message is back (marked as read - not bolded). There is a copy in my local folder OK... but I now need to manually delete the duplicate in the inbox... then it is gone for good.

It is as if the e-mail is not deleted from the server when a message is moved to a local folder.

I cannot see any server settings or general setting that will force the server to delete e-mails that are moved to local folders.

Does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed?
