Firefox won't work with Dell Studio laptop fingerprint identification. Is there a solution?
I helped a friend switch to latest Firefox browser. She has a Dell Studio laptop with fingerprint indentification and it won't work with Firefox browser but does work with Internet Explorer. Is there a plug in or add on that resolves this problem?

Fingerfox (SE) extension - may or may not work. Primarily made the Microsoft Fingerprint reader, but it does work with some other brands. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3871/ Note: This extension requires MS .NET Framework 2.0 to be installed.
The developer has a forum here where you might be able to find out if that extension will work with that brand / model laptop. http://amews.net/forum/
Or: Check the Dell software / driver downloads part of the Dell website for an updated driver for their fingerprint reader software. Or, if you know who made the drivers used in that laptop, see the manufacturers website. UPEK is the most widely used fingerprint reader software, AFAIK.
