Why does my signature font change when it comes back to me in a reply

I have created an HTML signature with images and text in Dreamweaver. Looks good going out in Thunderbird but when it returns in the reply the type has lost it formatting and is larger. Any thoughts?

Always? Or just some correspondents? Some may choose to process their email as plain text. Or they may be using an email client that superimposes its own template. This is commonly encountered with those who use Outlook.
