We have been using Thunderbird with a Cox email account. Cox has just transferred all its customers to Yahoo. I want to use Thunderbird with Yahoo. How do I set that up?

This has been a headache. Cox has had us migrate our accounts to yahoo. I have been able to do most of my emails, but my husband had yahoo tech help him and one of his emails will not download to the thunderbird account. The tech did a pop.mail.yahoo with this one but created new imap accounts with the other two. I tried to create a new account but it says Incoming server aleady exists. So I deleted the account, shut down Thunderbird and brought it up and tried again. I got the same message.

I am new extremely tech savvy but know a little more than my husband. If someone could please help walk me through this, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

To all a happy holiday season. It's time for another rousing rendition of an oldie, but goody! "Unable to login in at server. Probably wrong configuration,username or password."! Windows 11 version. So I utilize 3 different gmail account addresses. Accounts 1 & 2 loaded up fine. Account 3 has the exact display name, gmail address, and YES, the correct password. I have checked this on gmail from my windows 11 laptop, and my android email app which used Firefox as the browser to get to Google. Soooo...I know, right, it's been posted and somewhat answered here a zillion times. However it's never straightforward on whether its a corrected reply. NOTHING, and I mean, I've looked in every nook and cranny, uninstalled Tbird, reloaded. Cleared everything, cache, registry, tickets to see Taylor S. Nothing works. Yes, I checked for upgrades. Rebooted. Stepped away from computer, watched Seahawks win win win. Came back to computer. Still...nothing magically changed (you know that sometimes airing-it-out does work). Can anyone help here? Have two computer with same email. My Wife's computer password got corrupted and unable to get messages. I deleted TB and deleted any reference to Thunderbird in the registry. Turn off and restarted PC, downloaded new install and run and all the setting from before automatically were in place and still could not get pass the password issue. My computer does not have any password.

My wife's PC, under setting, does not have any saved passwords or a Primary password or even the "Use a Primary Password" checked. If it is checked there is nothing there. It just will not get passed the password issue being always asked when trying to "Get Messages".

How do you get rid of all the infor, setting, password requirements and to be able to restart with a clean Thunderbird install or get passed the password issue? Making my brain hurt.

HI Antone I have spent about two weeks on Google etc trying to export my Thunderbird address book to my Galaxy S20 5G. I just have failed miserably. I guess it's because I am 79 and tech has beaten me. Can anybody p[lease help. Cheers Alan Jones

I bought my wife a new computer a while ago and have followed every solution I can find to trans fer the profile from her Windows 10 computer to her Windows 11. One problem is that Windows 11 repeatedly created two profiles xxxxxxxx.default and xxxxxxxx.default-release. I have made sure both computers are using Version 115.7.0. The file is much larger than 2Gb which articles suggest doing a backup. Copying the profile from Windows 10 or making a zipped backup is no problem, however, if I import or paste into either profile, nothing happens it does not let me. Once it did spend hours copying the Profile file only to say at the end this cannot be done . I should have copied the whole message. I do not use the Microsoft Cloud, is there a foolproof way of doing this and why does it create two profiles. Is it like Ubuntu where I need to be root?

Dear community, I get the error "There is no default mail client or the current mail client...". <send to> and adding files to a new message by programs like pdf printer stopped working. It worked before. Suddenly stopped.

what I did with no results: In 'Default apps' - Thunderbird ofc. 'Email' needs to be set as 'Thunderbird' reinstallation of TB 64b. installation TB 32b. I will add that if I set the default Outlook, it works (Now I have deleted it).

What should I do to make Thunderbird work?

I need to download & install TB ver 31.8.0 to a newly installed system running ubuntu 22.04.

My earler installation of TB 31.8.0 on my other computer has critical information on it, running under ubuntu 14.04. It's so old that i cannot access the internet on it.

So I'm hoping to install TB 31.8.0 on this new computer, copy my TB profile from my old computer to this new computer, then do the necessary updates to this newly installed version of TB 31.8.0 to bring it up to TB vers 115

As everyone here knows, Thunderbird 115 is a hot mess; sadly, as they cycle through new releases, it sometimes gets worse, not better. It appears from my update history that 115.2.3 was the most stable of the 115 versions. I'd rather go back to 102 but it seems that the profile was modified in 115 so that it is no longer compatible with 102. Thus a 102 rollback might require quite a bit of work to reimport the profile into a clean install. And I have gigabytes of important mail.

I'm not on 115.4.3 and it is close to unusable, as they screwed up regression in a major bug, and my bugzilla on it has sat unanswered, other than requesting I be nice to the devs. So as a lower-risk option might be to roll back from 115.4.3 to 115.2.3. Has anyone tried anything like that, or know the safest way? I don't know what booby traps they've planted to prevent any rollbacks. Thanks!

I was informed in the last text from a TB agent to ... "Be sure to do periodic backups." Could someone please--be specific!--tell me how to do this? And how frequently is a good idea? Thank you!

I just copied my whole profile folder from a Debian 12 (Thundebird 115.7) to a Ubuntu 22.04 (Thunderbird 115.8). I expected when running it, to find it in the exact same state because, as what I'm aware of, everything is stored in the profile and nowhere else on the filesystem.

But, I found that: - my favorite folders (around 10) weren't there (well, only 1 of them) - A lot of mails were in "unseen" state (not the unread/read marker, but that star that appears the first time you open a folder for mails that has just been downloaded), where they were already seen

So my concern is about where/how are those values supposed to be stored, and why they don't seem to "migrate" as well? And, may there be some other things that didn't come too?

Two same emails, but one does not accept my password, and the other does. And one shows (IMAP) at the end. I wanted to remove both and reinput as the rest of the emails. Can you assist?

Suddenly yesterday afternoon I became unable to download emails to Thunderbird (I can still do it in talktalk). I get a message "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges and you have enough disc space to copy the mailbox." I have checked there is plenty of disc space. What can I do to get the system working again? I suspect Thunderbird downloaded an update yesterday.

I'm trying to import emails that I backed up from my wordpress website's hosted email on hostgator. I have downloaded a mail.zip file however when I try to import it using Thunderbird it shows 0 emails imported. How can I import the emails using the file I have?

I added a new email account to my existing Thunderbird running other email accounts and it only loaded the Inbox from the newly added account and none of the other folders and sub-folders. What did I do wrong or not do? Grateful for any help please. Full disclosure - I had had the newly added account on this Thunderbird before but it had a load of ghost folders and was missing many others, so I removed the account (under Account settings) and then re-Added it.

Hello and thanks in advance to anyone offering help, very much appreciated. My partner hates computers but has to deal with them for her home based work. After long struggle she has got to grips and enjoys the functionality of Thunderbird. Her old laptop is on the way out and we got her a new upgraded machine (Lenovo windows 11). a 'friend' tried to solve a problem in the past and created a second account locally on her laptop that mirrors the incoming emails to her main BTinternet mail account. however, sometning went wrong and she hasd over 15000 duplicated emails on the second back up account. We wish to istall Thunderbird on her new machine as she doesn't like to windows mail app and noy 'enjoys' (sic) the thunderbird, especially coulering emails for easy reference. we were told that if she deletes the second account, all of the mirrorede emails on the desired/to keep BT account will also be lost. we are now wondering if it is possible to download Thunderbird onto the new machine and somehow not import the unwanted account when she signs in etc. We are hoping also that when she downloads and installs and signs in.... (the above query accepted) that her folders will also import and be populated. But!... only for the account she wants. i hope this has been clear? The server is imap from BTinternet email thnaks to all who read this far

Hello Community Please help me to start again with Firefox from scratch. Last Month I downloaded Thunderbird email app and set up with a new email account using mailfence. Now I find that my mailfence email address was only a free trial and I have to pay to continue to use. I now wish to set up with my original free email with gmail. I did uninstall the Thunderbird app and then installed from fresh. Unfortunately it still has the mailfence email remembered in the Thunderbird App. How so I start again from scratch using my gmail account instead of the mailfence account that has now expired? Thank you in anticipation of you help.

After transferring an older (2021) TB profile into my pc and starting TB 115.6.0 64bit on a Windows 10 pc I was able to see the adress books of the old profile, but strangely TB does not know the accounts and consequentially does not show any of the stored mails of that profile (file "global-messages-db.sqlite" of that profile has 94.336 kb, so I guess there is content there). It would be very important for me to have access to these stored emails. I'd be very greatful for any suggestions that might help. Thanks a lot Michael
