hello, how can i copy my Linux mint Thunderbird profiles over to windows 10? i get a copy alarm "can not copy symbolic link" when i try to copy the .thunderbird directory to my dos formatted usb drive. i do see that the linux profile directory has both imapmail and ImapMail directories. i believe this is the issue. when i am copying from linux to the dos usb drive, the error window askes to skip/cancel the directory it is troubled by. as both imapmail and ImapMail have the same size and file count, can i just skip one of the directories? is either better on the dos side? thank you for your time. In my left tool bar I have:

xxxx@cox.net pop server followed by about 40 folders. This was the Cox email that is no longer in use.

xxxx@gmail.com followed by folders

xxxx@cox.net this is the new imap cox.net using yahoo.

Is it possible to move the bottom cox.net to the top, followed by gmail, followed by the no longer in use pop cox.net?

Thanks

According to thunderbird, this event starts at 10:30 (second image) and runs until 11am (end time is correct.

Google calendar correctly has this event as starting at 10:00 (first image) running until 11am. This event is synced with google calendar and my outlook calendar (outlook has it as 10:00 as well).

It's not a time zone issue because the start time is off by 30 minutes and the end time is right. Any idea what's going on?

(Clearly a calendar sync that gets the times wrong isn't so useful.)

Hello, I am trying to send emails from my iCloud account and it always fails due to the SMTP server timing out. I've tried making a new app-specific password, deleting and re-adding the account in Thunderbird, and made sure the authentication settings are right, but it still doesn't work. I can connect to the IMAP server just fine.

Your response to: no calendar tab after installing lightning

"Not sure what you installed and why. The Lightning add-on is no more. The calendar has been integrated into Thunderbird since quite a while. There is no need to install an add-on. "

So if Lightning is no longer valid - please remove old references to it!! How do I get the old plain calendar tab on????

Hi folks

When viewing some [not 'all'] PDFs I've created via T'bird's inbult PDF preview on my W10 Desktop PC an annoying black blob in the shape of a car key now appears on the PDF's pages from page 2 onwards. When viewing the same file via an iOS device or inside Dropbox there is no black blob. Also, when viewing the same file via the full Adobe Acrobat APP on my W10 Desktop PC there is no black blob. This black key-shape blob only shows inside T'bird's inbuilt PDF previewer.

I know how to change the preview function inside Tbird to instead open any PDF in Acrobat, but as I quite like the T'bird PDF preview feature does anyone know why these black keys are appearing and how to get rid of them?

Further info: The only PDFs with the black blobs are those created via my W10 Desktop PC's PowerPoint APP's "Save as Adobe PDF" function. There is no such black blob on the PowerPoint pages themselves, and again no blobs appear when viewing the new PDF on any iOS device or within Dropbox. Additonally, and since writing the above lines, I have emailed the PDF to a friend who has opened it on his W10 Laptop and there are NO [again, NONE] black blobs on his screen [he uses Outlook as his email handler]. Thus, I feel certain the problem is within T'bird's PDF preview code.

Is there any fix for this?

Thanks.

What is going on with the designers of Thunderbird, and Firefox?

There was a time when they had these programs working real well, they were user friendly and intuitive.

Lately, with each release, more and more functionality seems to be push off into "add-ons"

For example, in Thunderbird the "Mark" button toggled the email as read or not and there was a little down arrow to the right I could click with more options.

Now, the little arrow button is still there, but it is always a drop down menu, so to mark a message as read I must make 2 clicks. I asked for help, but got a response to "try these addons"

There have been similar changes to Firefox.

Are the designers getting lazy and relying in third party people to do their work for them? Perhaps the new breed of designers are simply unable to it include working solutions in future versions? Is there a management decree to stop making these programs good, and off load these features to the end user (now I have to spend a lot of time researching a solution, and installing an add on that may or may not do what I want)

Perhaps there is some financial incentive, I guess it saves Mozilla labor costs of they can get volunteer third party people to do their work for them.

Thoughts?

Mark.

Anytime I attempt to send an email in the CCC ONE application, I get this error message from CCC ONE:

"Unable to perform selected action while the email application is open. Please close your email application and try again."

This error message persists whether I do have Thunderbird open or not. I also checked Task manager while I had Thunderbird closed and found no instance of it running. Is there any way that Thunderbird is running in the background? Or could it be if Thunderbird loads at start up that it's tricking CCC into thinking it's open all the time?

I contacted CCC ONE report and they advised me to attempt to change the name of a DLL file so a new one would be created to replace it. I tried that, the issue still persists. They also told me to try and uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, which I did, and it still won't work.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

My wife got a new computer and I'm transferring her folders from her old windows 10 computer to her new Windows 11 computer. I have Thunderbird installed on the new computer with her account. Thunderbird on the Win10 comp is 32 bit and the Win11 comp is 64 bit. Both are the same version (115.10.02). On the old computer, in the MAIL folder there is "inbound.att.net" which has her mail files (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, etc.). Should I just copy all the files inside the "inbound.att.net" folder to the new computer?

Is there anything else I need to copy and paste from the old TB to the new TB folder? I'm guess that I will have to at lease copy and paste the abook.sqlite file from the old to the new. Any other folders or files.

Maybe I'm doing this wrong and there is an easier way to do this? I've read the article about moving data on the TB Support page but it doesn't mention anything about TB data from a Win10 32 bit to a Win11 64 bit computer. Will the difference in Win10 OS and TB 32 bit and the Win11 OS and TB 64 bit, be an issue.

Thank you so much for the help.

Hi, I am on a HP laptop using T-Bird 115.11.0 (32-bit). I am trying to add a new contact to the address book. There is a problem or I am doing something wrong.

The right side of the screen offers me to enter details of the New Contact. However, it only allows room for 1st name, 2nd name and Display Name. Once entered I cannot scroll the screen to enter more details or to save what has been entered or anything - except to close address book or cancel which button only partially appears. By clicking around the white parts of the screen I can get Nickname to appear (see screen dump) and I fill it in and then nothing. I am effectively stuck. Looks like there is some window sizing problem here which is preventing the user from seeing how to proceed with completing this form.

B: All of my email that was in my account / on my computer seem to be be there as far as I can tell. I can get to them, I can open them and see their contents. C: All is ok up til this point...as mentioned above and no new email has arrived. D: Now, as soon as I click on the "Get Messages" (Icon, looks like a cloud) in the upper left corner, is when I the Yahoo page of some sort pops on the screen, that's it. No mail arrives and I'm stuck with the Yahoo page covering most of the screen. E: I can click click around and try entering my email address but when I click on F: I see that images can be attached, and hope it works. My screen are,1920 x 1080, so I'll try and reduce the size of the images when I attach them. G: (Image A) After I inter my email address the red wording pops up.

(Image B) My email address pops up. That's it. Sometimes, If I click around a second page will pop up and

it becomes vicious circle and normally going back to the first page. (Note: A image) [about:blank] ??? Other pages have an address??? H. In these 4 days I have changed, added, deleted, used my Mozilla Reset Key, and this morning, per Mozilla's - Thunderbird's request, created another Reset key. Still no email.
