My Thunderbird works 100% fine with my googlemail account. My problem is with google i cannot access my account and am locked out even though i get my emails in thunderbird and on my iphone i am 92 years old and was wondering if there is any way i can find my password through thunderbird?

I have to maintain a number of MS Outlook mail accounts. Every day, sometimes more than once per day I have to authorize access to the accounts. What is causing this problem, and how to prevent? Is it a Thunderbird problem or a Microsoft problem? Thanks for your help. Paul

Can one have Thunderbird with the following privacy rights? • Erase my Personal Data now and in future; • Cease the processing of my Personal Data from the moment it begins; • Restrict the processing of my Personal Data from the moment it begins; • Do not sell or transfer otherwise my Personal Data to any third party at any time, including Amazon, for example. Is there a way to have Thunderbird and one's privacy rights respected? Perhaps installing Thunderbird without its email function? Please advise. I would have no objection to the entire Thunderbird array of apparently wonderful parts should what reads in its Privacy terms document as fast and loose personal data collection and flinging about -- with all due respect to all of you otherwise.

I've created (multiple times) a app password on https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword. I let Thunderbird autodetect the servers which seems to work ( (imap) outlook.office365.com:993 and smtp.office365.com:587 )

But the password is rejected. The user interface in Thunderbird is bit unclear what exactly fails. Is there a possibility to see where in the handshake to connection is rejected?

I used the add on "full address column." Today's update silently removed the add on and does not provide any obvious replacement for showing the senders email address in the main email window. Why are you helping spammers to get their way ? This is extremely frustrating and I might have to look for an alternative email client. Seeing the senders email usually makes detecting spam emails a lot easier. The "Correspondents" column is in most cases misleading.

Hi, I get sextorsion mails now and then (blackmail which claims to be sent from my own mail account). These I routinely move to a folder for scam mails together with Nigeria letters and what else I get. There are quite a lot of mails in that folder now! A few days ago I wanted to do some statistics on all these mails, and to my great wonder, all sextorsion mails, save one, have disappeared from that folder. All other kinds of spurious mails seem to remain. Are there anything in Thunderbird that automatically do away with that kind of mail? Trying to forward an e-mail from the UK National Health Service results in message:

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Message detected as spam. [1709223430-338018].. Please check the message and try again.

How do I overcome what is obviously incorrect feedback? My TB mail client and server did not detect anything during receipt. There do not appear to be any client-based TB detection tools where I can identify suspect content or the particular server.

I had a crash in Kubuntu 22.04 with Thunderbird (up to date 115, German language). I set a Master password for Thunderbird. I installed then Kubuntu and Thunderbird again and Thunderbird without Master Password. I have a backup of the private email key (*-secret.asc exported from Thunderbird!), but it is not possible to import the private key. All I get is „Failure File can not be imported“. What is the problem and how to solve it? I did new installations (without master password) before and it worked. It’s a really big big problem for the email system if the (Backup) keys can not be imported after crashes or new installation of the system.

WTF did you guys do? I updated today, and now it's asking for passwords continually, and it's not even showing all the emails. I've entered passwords for each account 3 times already and it won't stop asking.

How do I get the previous version back?

I used to be able to print my usernames and password list. I can only see it in an abbreviated form using the latest Thunderbird revision (with Microsoft). Any suggestions?

For some idiotic reason Thunderbird is constantly creating a folder called SPAM. I want this off and never to reappear, so could someone explain how to do this. I have turned of unable adaptive junk mail and turn of the destination and retention.

This behavior is new, completely unnecessary.

I have been locked ot of TBird (due to a lost Primary Password) for so long that most of the stored passwords are no longer relevant. I need to start over with a new copy of TBird on my PC - can anyone please give me detailed instructions?

Tl;dr: how to convert pgp public keys to a csr and vice versa for the generated Certificate

Since K9 and Thunderbird are about to merge I wanted to point out here that i have difficulties using a S/MIME Certificate in the PKDS 12 format on my phone. The OpenKeychain app required just can't import it. I need to use a Certificate that got signed by my company. So even if I generate a PGP pubkic key with open keychain I don't get how i would turn that into a CSR that I could send to the it Department. Has anyone else had the same issue?
