I'm at wits end. 1. I've been using TB for a very long time. Everything was working just fine until about a month ago. Now I don't receive email and can't send email. 2. I've tried working with my server provider (they say it's a TB issue). I've tried following several old responses - but have had no luck. So... 1. Did something change? 2. What do I need to do to get things working like they did before? Thanks

See the subject. I just set up new contacts and want to show only their name as recipient of emails. However, when I do a test email, the recipient's email address continues to show up with their name when sent. This really sucks. Why won't it accept my settings?

Why is it that every time Thunderbird updater installs on my laptop, my taskbar link to it becomes unfindable and I have to 1 click on it so that Windows says it can't find it and would you like to remove it so I can then say yes, 2 wait until the taskbar link disappears, 3 go to my desktop icon for Thunderbird and right click to have it pin to the taskbar (AGAIN!) What does updater do to the taskbar pinned icon that it won't work until I remove, replace it, and go back to work??

Updater should NOTHING to do with any of my taskbar icons, let alone the one for Thunderbird. Tell me something I don't know.

It seem like since a recent version update of Thunderbird, I have to confirm every email deletion. Before it would simply delete and move into the Trash. If I really wanted it back, I could get it back from the Trash. Why does it now ask me EVERY TIME I delete an email. I used to be able to just press the delete key for a message to go on to the next message. If I accidentally deleted something I'd go find it in the Trash.

Why does "Move to Trash" have to be confirmed now?????

It slow my mail reading down incredibly.

Who added that as default option and why???

An update has deleted the contents of all my sub-folders. If I move e-mails into a sub-folder they disappear after a week or two. This is a BIG deal.

An update a month or so back changed the layout and deleted all the contents of my sub-folders. This is a big deal as they contained all the info on my clients. Also, if I move an e-mail into a sub-folder, afer a week or two they just disappear. Finally, the feature that shows the thread of a message cannot be switched off. This just increases my click load!

Thunderbird updated today, 11-16-23, at 12-58-43 PM, in my main PC (Dell3080) quit working after the update. Now I can’t send messages and I received the last message this morning at 5:49 AM.

Thunderbird last updated 6-7-23 in my back-up PC (Dell3070) works fine. Its Thunderbird has received the 6-16-23, 5:49 AM message mentioned above, plus four more, the last one at 7:30 PM.

Both Thunderbird programs use the identical “Outgoing Server” settings.

When writing an email if I use the 'Insert>image' menu route the whole thunderbird app freezes (using win10, fully updated). However, if I manually copy and paste to insert an image via the clipboard, it seems to take OK. So have a workaround now, but worry the program route is failing. Am I missing a setting somewhere (I must say I have experienced glitches* since updating to the newest supernova version - 115 - and wishing I'd just stayed with the older previous version a while longer.

  • Other glitch is the system is endlessly demanding passwords for my hotmail accounts when checking email (not so for the yahoo or gmail accounts). Very frustrating and time consuming.

-Every time I start Thunderbird, I see my emails from 2009 at the top instead of auto-scrolling down to the newest. -When opening a MAPI email with a recipient email, the last letter of the email address is cut off in its fancy drawn box. -The form displaying conversations should automatically expand the tree, or at least have an option for that, and auto-expand the tree on a single result. Also, the ">" sign is not prominent enough to indicate that there are more emails in the result resulting the most confusions on workplaces. It's just simply a bad design.

The new update is a disaster and almost unusable. The biggest problem I have with it is that the Message pane is now reduced to a size that is uncomfortably small. This could be ameliorated if the Message List pane could be shortened, as in previous versions. The current pane cannot be reduced to less than 8 messages in the list, previous versions allowed for far fewer.

Yes, there are several options available to change the layout, but they all have even greater issues.

PLEASE CHANGE THE MESSAGE LIST PANE FORMAT SO THAT IT CAN BE REDUCED TO DISPLAY A SMALLER NUMBER THAN 8 MESSAGES!!!

Can anyone tell me how to blacklist incoming emails from selected addresses?

I can get T-bird to send unwanted emails to the "Junk" folder, but there are some that I would prefer not to even show up on my end, but rather delete them before they even get here (Facebook being the prime offender - hundreds of people I have never even heard of sending baby photos, etc.).

I contacted my ISP and was told that I needed to do this from the T-bird end. I cannot find anything in the Support section that addresses this problem. Thank you, Wolfgang
