I have been struggling with this problem for about 6 months now and no-one I've asked has been able to help me. Even my computer guru failed me! I think it was after an update about last June when I started having this problem An nothing I've tried has had any effect. I had a Geek Squad guy on the phone with me for about 45 minutes to no effect. He said he'd never seen the problem before. I have business emails on that account so I don't want to risk losing them. Can anyone help me please? Christine

Since applying update 115.10.0, Thunderbird will not close correctly and will not relaunch until task is ended in task Manager. This is true on a windows 7 PC and windows 10.

I'm using Thunderbird for my private and company e-mails (different companies). I need to pay close attention to selecting the right names as the auto suggest for recipients isn't using the context of the current account. Is there a plugin or setting I've missed that considers the context of composing a mail and priorities collected e-mails from the respective account or recent conversations for example? Good example is the Gmail auto complete, that has a good suggestion ranking.

Best I could find was options to sync with Google Mail contacts, but that would require to maintain a list of contacts in Google Mail, which I don't do.

Hello, For some reason, over the past couple of months I have been searching for varied emails and they are missing! At one point, I found that some had been put in an archive folder (that I did NOT set up) and they were recent emails. I removed them from the folder, placed them back in the regular inbox and deleted that folder. When I could not find another very important series of emails today, after searching numerous ways, I looked in the server and missing emails are there. I did look at a number of email threads where other people reported similar problems... but couldn't figure out what applied to my situation and how to fix this. To show a specific example, I attached two images ... the first is my Thunderbird email account that shows one Email only on Feb 18, 2024. The Juno server image shows 7 emails on that same date, four which were important contracts that were sent to me. Can you please help me locate and retrieve these and other missing emails? Hi, Excuse my poor English (I am French). Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon (64), Thunderbird 115.9.0 (64) no added module - Installation from the Mint list of software. My problem : regardless of the provider (Proton, Gmail, Outlook, GMX - in IMAP), the message menu bar (see <https://support.mozilla.org/fr/kb/personnaliser-la-liste-des -messages#thunderbird:linux:tb115>) does not appear. How to make it reappear ? I think I have tried all the configuration menus and possible right clicks within Thunderbird ; I haven't found anything on the Net ; starting in safe mode did not change anything. I come from Windows 10 where I didn't have this problem. Thanks in advance for your help

I created a backup of my Thunderbird profile including various email accounts and calendar. I used the build in export function of Thunderbird to create this backup. Unfortunately the file is slightly bigger than 2GB.

I had a severe copmputer crash now and I wanted to import the backup. It turns out that the zip-achive is damaged. I cannot unpack it with any zip-software and also repairing the archive with winrar did not work.

Is there any chance that I can at least restore some of the information?

I want to setup my Gmail account that my school hosts. It has a unique domain name and Thunderbird does not recognize it as a Gmail account, but I'm sure it is. Here's what I did to solve the problem (yet no luck) First, I tried to setup with manual IMAP configuraiton by following the steps on LifeWire Article and Google Support, but it says that credentials that I'm using is wrong. It did detect the Gmail mail server though. Next, I tried to pretend that I'm going to login as a user I've created ON GOOGLE so thunderbird can recognize it as Gmail Account, then logged in with my school credential, and it failed. Probably because I've entered fake Gmail address in the form. It's very inconvenient that I cannot setup mail accounts with OAuth authentication method manually.

Do you have a walkaround for this?

I want to support Mozilla but have no need for the complexity of Thunderbird. I find navigating the huge number of options hugely timewasting, eg I inadvertently remove some headers but can find no way of undoing this. Is there a cut down, simplified version I can use?

The attendees I select are not receiving their invites to my calendar events. My version of Thunderbird (TB) is 115.9.0 (64-bit). I check my sent folder and it does not send. Older versions of TB, the Calendar invite worked and I can see it was sent from the sent folder. Please note that I am not tech savvy and I need a solution that an average person can employ. If someone has a solution, please get it in step by step instructions and assume I know next to nothing.

Is there a way I can make a filter that responds to the displayed sender (which may be different from the address)? For instance if an email has the header “From: "John Doe" <john.doe@example.org>”, can I make a filter check if “John Doe” matches a pattern?

TB v115.8.0 (64-bit) Closed the app and went to dinner Came back and opened the app. All the tasks are GONE!!!

I know TB keeps everything in text files, so I found the "calendar-data" folder and opened some files using NOTEPAD.EXE to find keywords I know represent my tasks. Sure enough, the data is there in the sqlite files.

What's the secret code that simply decides to not open those files and populate my task window?

When I am deleting emails, I frequently end up with the same email as most recent in my inbox and thus automatically selected. This opens a new tab with the same email as content and soon my tab section is filled up with multiple versions of the same few emails and the inbox tab pushed off the screen.

Can there not be a setting to open up the existing tab if it has the same content. Or alternatively a way to pin the folder tab (normally inbox) on the left of the tabs permanently.

Other tabbed applications do not open up multiple tabs with the same content.

Yes I could shut the unwanted, repeated tab each time Thunderbird opens it, but I don't want to have to.

This seems like an easy feature? Please??

I have includes 4 different email adresses in Thunderbird. All of them as IMAP. All the time everthing works fine, but for the last 2 weeks Thinderbird doesnt syncronize correctly.

For example: Thunderbird sees, that there are 8 unread messages in inbox, but at the same time Thunderbird does show me only 5 of them in the inbox. (When I login the the eMail-provider then there are all the 8 messages)

The "repair"-tool did not help so far. Diffrent mail-adresses show similar behavior.

I need a good idea.

4 of my many T.Bird email folders somehow lost their email contents (about 50 emails). I have an older T.Bird email backup and want to only reload the 4 empty folders using the backup. I want to keep any emails that may be in my other current folders but not in the backups. I am not sure how to do this.

If I copy the same named T. Bird email root directory [b0mdofvn.default] back up folders into the current email root directory, I see the replaced emails very briefly and then they self delete, leaving the folders empty.

How do I fix this?

I have a folder set aside for a non-profit I volunteer for. I want to backup all those emails separately so that they are 'easy to access' - it's a regulation. How??

I have suffered a total hard drive crash. Fortunately, I had a complete disk image saved to iDrive. After many hours, I was able to find my profile in the appdata and watch yesterday as my 10000+emails (approximately 10 years of emails!) streamed into my new PC from my Comcast/Xfinity account. However, when I went to access my TB account this morning only a small percentage of the emails that downloaded yesterday were accessible. My TB email account is essentially the file drawer of my life. I want and need to be able to access all 10000+ on a daily basis. What did I do wrong? How can I fix this. Thank you so much!
