installed Ubuntu 2404 on my acer laptop along with Thunderbird, added gmail email to Thunderbird and it fails to connect to google for their security check.

popup when trying to login to google to let Thunderbird access gmail.

400. That’s an error.

The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know.

I think the linux Thunderbird is broken.

I have been through this google process with Thunderbird 3 times windows 10 and 11 and once on an android phone with no problems

Norton 360 updated last night and now Thunderbird isn't working.

I tried logging in to Thunderbird but it kept saying my certificate was wrong and refusing to check my emails. I tried to click "add exception" but it didn't help.

It also kept saying its own homepage was a security risk and blocking it.

I figured it was Nortons new update, but have no idea how to fix it. I turned off Nortons Email Protection, which didn't help. So I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it.

But now its saying it cannot login to the outlook server when I try to add an email account. I know the information is correct, all I can guess is that Norton is blocking it somehow?

Any idea on how I can fix this?

My contacts (email address lists) have disappeared. My Thunderbird account requested that I allow it to compact the email account a day or two ago - could that have caused this problem? Or is there a way to get the contact lists back?

I think that I need to completely uninstall TB Something went wrong on one of my computers, and it couldn't connect to the server. It works on my other computer.

I decided to uninstall TB that had the problem. I did that, but when I reinstalled it, it had all of the same settings and problems. I used RevoUnstaller. because it said When I reinstalled it, all of the stuff and the problem were back.

What is the best way to fix this?

I used to use Thunderbird exclusively, but GoDaddy dumped my three main mailboxes into Exchange Server; even with Owl, Tbird could only be used for one of them, so I was forced into Outlook for those accounts. But I kept Thunderbird to use with the non-GoDaddy mailboxes. However. I did not remove the GoDaddy accounts from Thunderbird, as I was busy. Now, when I click the Thunderbird icon on my taskbar, Outlook comes up instead. Ditto when I enter Thunderbird on the start menu! It's not even my normal Outlook, which has my main three mailboxes. but an Outlook that shows only the least-used of the three. How do I get Thunderbird back? And when I do, how do I delete those three mailboxes from it?

I can't do batch delete or move from the Inbox. It will only do one file at a time, despite the fact that several are highlighted.

It is also repeatedly trying to download a few thousand files to the Inbox. It gets to the number of files, then hangs, then starts to do it again (except each time it's fewer files to download). I don't know if the two problems are related.

Apparently, from the bits I've read, the "solution" is to scrap Thunderbird and start anew with the knowledge that I set up my accounts "wrong" because I relied on the automatic setup and was ... led astray???

Frankly I expected better.

The reason I tried to switch to Thunderbird was because Apple Mail was behaving erratically (forcing threaded view though it was turned off) and there was no way to contact anyone about problems. However, typical for Apple because they don't communicate with users, the problem seem to have mysteriously resolved.

Anyway I'm switching back to Apple. For now. Because I don't want to play guessing games with my email about how to do things properly. Frankly, I'd switch to Gmail which all of my friends say behaves well. But I also don't want to be tracked and Google is evil in this regard. So here I am.

TWO issues: 1. TB use to display emails in the INBOX immediately. Now I have to click another folder then go back to Inbox for the emails to be visible.

2. Emails with the red flame are junk emails. I think those use to automatically go to the Junk folder but now they're showing up in my Inbox and I have to manually send them to Junk folder. Am I wrong on this or has something changed?

Hello. Cox.com (my current email account) is no longer servicing emails and is switching my 4 email accounts to yahoo. I am to sign in with my cox.com address (which is not changing), but my emails will show in Yahoo. Since this account is already listed in Thunderbirsd with Cox.com (not a new email), I need to be able to configure Thunderbird to get my emails from Yahoo. They have only transferred 1 of 4 so far, so I will need this information for the other 3 when it happens. Thank you for any help. I have already missed some emails.
