The recent add on glitch in FF with Norton Safe Web add-on (NSW) was resolved with v3.7.0.11 on FF ESR 52.9.0 (XP SP3) but there is still a glitch with current update NSW v3.8.0.6 wherein the green tick icon will not appear and only the grey question mark icon shows on all web pages. All else with Norton and FF appears normal. I understand reverting to v3.7.0.11 wil solve this but can this be fixed for the update(s) too please.

Hi, Since the add on problems, i've been trying to dowload the fix for firefox version 52.9.0 (xp32bit) How ever what ever i try, i get a message "unable to dowload due to connection failure" and tried everything, even re-installing firefox, still the same. Is there a way to dowload the fix, save in and run it as a file ? It is pretty annoying as i can't add any add ons and don't know what to do if i can't even download the fix from the website. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Phil.

Windows 7/ 64 bit; (but on Help site I keep getting banner "..outdated unsupported operating system" as if I had XP or Vista. What? Confusing.)

Nothing I can find addresses how to get from 52.9 esr to a later version safely. Now that firefox has busted Ublock Origin and other add-ons, the torture is getting to me. I'll UPDATE, but nothing explains what else may break if I just try installing v66 over current esr version. Keep wasting my time searching.

If I "uninstall" 52 esr first, will any data from ReminderFox also go bye-bye (that might be in .ics format)?

All of my saved tabs open as new tabs, I can't open any of the articles in my email newsletters, Gmail & other web pages don't load correctly, all of my browsing history is gone & sometimes I can't even get a web site to load. For example, I've been trying to open Google but instead of opening the web site, it just loads a new tab.

Hello, The "Add-ons disabled" problem for ESR was resolved in ESR 60.6.2 version. But many users(still using Windows XP and can't buy just now a new PC with Windows 10/8/7. I also have Firefox 52.9.0 ESR (32-bit), that is the current latest version for Windows XP and can't be updated to 60.6.2 ESR version. As one of an old Firefox user, I don't ask for some new Firefox updates (I'm understand the real situation), but help us to get a fixed legal version only (something like 52.9.1, for example) to provide using our Add-ons. Please, help to many of your constant users! Thank you, Sergey

Hi Jscher2000,

My issue (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1258165?page=1) was closed before I could respond! So, I am following up here.... (and I could post this follow up there -if you want to re-open that thread, for continuity of the issue?)

---

I tried your solution to update the certificate, but it did not work.

Note, I could not figure out where to check the certificate was updated (as you posted in the screen capture of image #2).

The first step seemed to work (clicking on your link and clicking OK on the popup to download the certificate).

The RESET of the lastupdate value also seemed to work, and after restarting Firefox it now shows VALUE of 1557118303.

But the adblcok plus stll not working.

Note, I tried to download the certificate using step 1 again, and that time an ALERT said CERTIFACATE ALREADY INSTALLED...

What can I do now?

+++++++++++++++

FYI: Your instruction in the OTHER THREAD was:

Hi Matt, I was able to start testing in Firefox 52 ESR. When I install the hotfix extension, nothing happens, other than showing up on the Extensions panel of the Add-ons page. In the Browser Console, I see this message: TypeError: browser.experiments is undefined That means the main command of the extension doesn't run, so it's a dead end.

Next idea:

Overview

(1) Install the certificate the hotfix would have installed (2) Trigger Firefox to re-verify your extensions (3) Wait until it is back to normal

Steps

(1) Install certificate

I extracted the certificate from my Firefox 66 and saved it on my webserver. Obviously if you don't trust me, you should not install it.

Two possible methods: click to download through the certificate installer, or right-click > Save Link As to save a local copy and then import it.

https://www.jeffersonscher.com/sumo/signingca1addonsmozillaorg_20190504.crt

Screenshot #1 shows the download method. Don't check any of the boxes, just click OK.

To import instead:

Go to the Options/Preferences page, Advanced section, Certificates panel, then click Certificate Manager. Make sure the Authorities tab is selected, then click Import. Find the file you downloaded and open it, then you should get the same dialog as in Screenshot #1, don't check any of the boxes, just click OK. Then you should see the new cert in the list in the Certificate Manager, as shown in Screenshot #2.

(2) Clear the time Firefox last re-verified

This will set Firefox up to check much sooner than it otherwise would check.

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(B) In the search box above the list, type or paste xpi- and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Right-click the app.update.lastUpdateTime.xpi-signature-verification preference and click Reset on the context menu

Screenshot #3 illustrates the expected result.

(3) Restart Firefox

You can exit Firefox normally, then start it up again. In my tests, it took less than 60 seconds for Firefox to verify my extensions. Screenshot #4 is "before" and Screenshot #5 is "after."

Hopefully that will work for you.

I understand there is a fix coming for issue with the addons being disabled. For now, I can temporarily fix it by manually setting the date on my computer to May 2 or earlier, deleting and reinstalling, then correcting the date. It seems to stay that way for a while. Will your update also be available automatically to those (with old computers) on the esr update channel? Thank you.

All of a sudden, I get a message that one or more installed add-ons can't be verified & has been disabled. However, they seem to still work. But I get the message shown below every time I launch Firefox. This just started happening last week.

I've shown a picture of some of the "disabled" add-ons. However, I know for sure that Roboform is still working.

How can I get rid of these messages? Thank you in advance!

At least that's how many of my add-ons were disabled. Some of them are from highly "suspicious" developers, such as, Capital One, Rakuten and American Airlines, so I can see why.

I tried reinstalling one and it wouldn't work.

I see now that this was probably a glitch. But, as FF says, if "extensions are apps for your browser", what would happen to Google if it disabled one-third of the Play Store?

Hi, Firefox post v62, is not compatible for many websites, and do not load as intended. Few examples:

https://tnpds.gov.in/pages/registeracard/register-a-card.xhtml (this website used to work well in Firefox v62, but not now. From the attached image you can see a pop-up, which does not show now in firefox v64.

Likewise https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/login.html, after login (for aadhaar address update) the language translation does not work at all.

And: many sites which depend something like "load unsigned scripts" as displayed in Chrome, does not load in Firefox at all, since the same if enabled in Chrome the website works as intended.

Kindly look into this. I have tried all options in Firefox, but it doesn't seems to help any way.

Thanks.

MAHENDRA.

This is quite ridiculous. Via Firefox Help I read about all of these bars:

Address bar Awesome bar Favorites bar Firefox Toolbar Location bar Menu bar Search bar

How/where do I find out what in God's name these are? Is there a typical Firefox page diagram showing the location of these bars?

Please advise, else I shall have to visit a proper Bar to drown my sorrows.
