Possibly there was an auto update of MOZILLA FIREFOX on our DELL LAPTOP (Windows 11). Now, we cannot get a Mozilla window to open - due to error message:

XUL Runner Error: Platform version '118.0.1' is not compatible with minVersion >= 118.0 maxVersion <=118.0

Can someone please help us get back to a previous version of Mozilla Fire. Perhaps it is a Windows error. I have no way of knowing. Please help me. My email is: [removed email from public] Thank you.

I need to disable this horrible translator that is now showing up on top of every page I visit, It keeps showing up even after choosing a translation or disabling translations for that language. That is probably a bug, but I don't want to wait for a fix, I need to be able to see the pages I visit completely, this thing prevents me from clicking buttons and and is really anoying.

This is the built-in translation feature since I do not use any translation plugins, and started showing up after an upgrade.

A few days ago I was downloading a ZIP file and was warned that "This file contains a virus or malware". Fine, thank you for telling me but now how do I seeing the same warning every time I start Firefox? The file in question does not exist on my computer so far as I can tell and I did a thorough search through 3.5tB of storage on the machine to make sure. How do I stop this warning?

Firefox just turns into a black screen and becomes unusable. It has been happening for a long time now and i have checked RAM and CPU usage and they are all fine, as I explored potential causes.

I will be using firefox and it just turns all black on all screens and is completely unusable. To use it again I have to force close all windows and reopen it and it works again.

I've been having an issue for a while now where the cloudflare challenges that ask you to click the check mark to "verify your connection is secure" would just endlessly ask me to click the button and never continue. Sometimes it would say to unblock access to challenges.cloudflare.com.

But if I a launch an incognito window I can visit website with the challenge and it won't even ask! I've added all my extensions to run in incognito mode and everything still works, I can visit the websites in incognito just fine. So the one changing variable is incognito vs non-incognito.

I can have two windows open, one incognito and one not, and browse to the same website and the non-incog window will fail but the incog will just go to the site.

I thought incognito was supposed to only affect the session storage? Does it silently change other things to the running environment of the browser (about:config options, slightly different extension configs)?

Anyone know why this small change would suddenly allow cloudflare challenges to work?

Which file/s contains only the browser settings, not including the extensions, which are transferable to other profiles? prefs.js? the contents of the settings folder?

I'm trying to use Microsoft Teams in Firefox because the native app for Linux is abandoned and crashes, and at first sight the app is blocking Firefox on purpose. Buttons to make calls are disabled, stating that audio and video are not supported in my browser, but everything works normally if join to existing calls using e.g. links.

Is it possible to trick Teams to think I'm using Chrome? I found the "User-Agent Switcher and Manager" add-on, but I can't figure out how to possibly use it.

if i have for example 4 tabs open i will also have 4 windows that all share the same tabs. i have tried using "about:config" and inputting "browser.tabs.allowTabDetach" and setting it to false and it doesnt help. what can i do to get opening a new tab to stay on the same window

This is the same problem listed below. Recently upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS and Firefox 117.0 a few weeks ago and can't get the files to attach. In fact it won't open the file system. Tried removing all extensions as suggested and rebooting, but nothing changed.

I see with windows Firefox version 118 a TLS extension id 65037 on every client hello handshake containing a bunch of data. Does somebody know what this extension is used for? I couldn't find anything about this on the web or in the firefox docs / release notes. Other browser (chrome / edge) don't have this extension in use.

Is there a main location where Firefox extensions (like Forecastfox) keep their settings? If so, or if you happen to know where Forecastfox in particular keeps its settings, I could use some help locating this folder. I have a settings file I could put in there to overcome some difficulties that the folks at Mozillazine can't seem to help with. Recently, when I try to play a video on YouTube on Firefox, there is a flickering brightness effect (some aspects of the video seem to flicker bright and dark quickly) which is distracting and makes it difficult to watch anything. The effect persists even when launching in troubleshooting mode, and disabling hardware acceleration and restarting appears to have no effect. I have also been unsuccessful refreshing Firefox. Nevertheless, this issue is absent on Safari and Chrome when watching the same video.

When I find the same video two different places (ex: the Apple Sept 12 Event on Apple's site, versus on YouTube) only the YouTube video has the issue. However, I can't find any settings to change on YouTube to help this.

When I copy text from other websites, I'm not able to paste in the text field of Whatsapp Web. I'm using Firefox Developer Edition Browser in my laptop. But when I copy text from Whatsapp Web itself, I am able to paste in the text field.

This issue started happening just a few days ago.

Here are my specifications:

Browser: Firefox Developer Edition 117.0b8 (64-bit)

OS: Pop!_OS 21.10

After the latest update (117.0 64-bit) I now do not see the '+' sign in the tab bar. I have 40 tabs open (please, no negativity - it's always worked for me), but if I close all of the tabs it reappears. Re-open the original 42 tabs and it's gone again. Close them and it reappears, etc. Now for the fun bit: starting from scratch with a new window - the '+' is there, but open 20 more tabs and it goes.

Hi all. I've been using Firefox for years on my Mac. It's my browser of choice.

A couple of days ago, my Mac installed an OS update (v13.5.2). After the reboot, I opened Firefox and discovered that it, too, had installed an update (v117.0). But when I got into Gmail and tried to turn on desktop notifications, it said this:

Note: Notifications have been disabled in this browser.

And it's right--no other sites are sending me their usual notifications, either.

My problem is, I can't figure out why notifications are disabled in Firefox suddenly. I didn't disable them. I've tried clicking the lock on gmail's site and setting its permissions to allow notifications, but they aren't coming. I've checked my Mac's preferences, and Firefox has notifications enabled there, as usual. Gmail works fine on Chrome--notifications are working. I've tried reinstalling Firefox--no change. I've tried running Firefox in troubleshooting mode--no joy. Other sites aren't even asking for permission to send notifications. Like Gmail, they appear to believe notifications are disabled in the browser.

I've searched the web for solutions, but I can't find one that tells me where the enable/disable switch is. Can some kind soul please help me out here?

Hi, I have been searching a way to change the Firefox new tab background image keeping its vanilla design. I found I could use a userContent.css file in this post from a few years ago: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1271362] I have followed the instructions step by step but it doesn't currently work.

Hiya. I usually have a fairly large number of tabs open on the browser. I use the Panorama View add-on for tab management. Usually this means that on any given container I have about 10-20 tabs open for a total of some 300 odd tabs. The nice thing is that Firefox doesn't usually load all my tabs so this works out for me. Recently however something weird's been going on and Firefox just refreshed ALL my tabs across all the containers. This kills my performance completely, especially given a fair number of tabs are just random youtube links. When all my tabs are open Firefox eats up like 25 GB of RAM, which is understandably not great.

I tried refreshing Firefox to no avail. Is there any way to stop this constant loading of all tabs?

I hope this applies here. I tried using the "-p" command fro Librewolf. Wiped out my sessions and settings.

Is there a way to do this in Firefox and or Librewolf?

Hello, once again the function of restoring recently closed windows has stopped working, it is displayed in gray and you cannot enter it I usually work on two or three windows at the same time and this function usually works, but I can't use it for the second or third time. Hi, I'm having this problem of videos not playing in some websites for a long time now, not even sure how long anymore. It started on Twitter, where I get the error message "The media could not be played". Some time after I got it on Instagram where I get the message "Sorry, we're having trouble with playing this video. Learn More". More recently I subscribed to the Nebula service and got a message there as well "The media could not be loaded". Differently from other people I don't have this problem on Youtube, over there everything has always been fine. I have tried every workaround on this, I have seen many tutorial videos and articles and tried everything and nothing worked. Running on Windows 10

Some things I have tried: -cleared cookies and cache; -disabled all add-ons, removed them even; -checked if firefox was updated; -checked if graphics card drives were updated; -opened websites on incognito mode, nothing changed there; -started Firefox in troubleshoot mode, nothing changed there; -disabled graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox; -enabled autoplay; -reset firefox; -changed my pc actually, installed firefox, got the error and reset firefox again;

Could anyone help me with this? Is this normal?
