I have just upgraded firefox to 115.3, and now the menu and tab area have an ugly blue color with white text.

If I switch to another window, the color returns to gray with black text, but as soon as I select the window, the menu/tab area becomes blue again. Only the active tab is shown with a gray background.

I have found this bug (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1090432) from 8 years ago, which seems to be the same problem, but the fix described does not work:

In about:config, browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar is set to 0 (not true or false). If I set it to something else and back to 0, the blue color remains. If the value is not 0, one could argue that firefox should use the title bar color, but if it is 0, then the regular window color should be used. Also, regardless of which color ought to be used, the tab header is not connected to the window below, but separated using a blue separator, making the window exceptionally ugly. This is the case even when browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar is nonzero.

I have also created a 100% fresh profile, without addons etc, and the behavior is the same.

I used to be able to scroll to the bottom of my Youtube subscription list, to see the very first posted videos of all of my subscriptions, going back to the first days of Youtube in 2005. Granted, not all of the videos would show up, and I don't know if that is a Youtube problem or a Firefox problem, but most of the videos would be there. Now, after going back less than a year in the archive, the scrolling just kind of peters out. Firefox becomes unresponsive to any key press or mouse click, and all I can do is quit the program. What has changed? Has Firefox gotten even worse at memory management? it was always a total pig with memory, but has it reached the point where it just plain malfunctions and can't recover? If that is the case, then Firefox devs had better get their spit together and work on optimization. I really don't want to have to start using Edge, thank you, no. I only use Edge to view PDFs.

System:

Windows 10 pro 22h2 19045.3516

Intel i5-10200h with UHD 620

Driver 31.0.101.2125

Firefox ESR 115.3.0

When watching streams in firefox, I noticed that overall iGPU load is very high, up to 70%, a lot higher than watching 1080p movie with dedicated player.

I found that the firefox actually only shares 10~20 iGPU load, the rest are from DWM, which load is up to 40% sometimes.

Also found if I switch from the tab with streaming page to another normal webpage, DWM immediately drops its usage to about 2%, firefox still uses some load as it's still decoding. DWM usage rises if I switch back.

I tried force firefox to use nvidia dGPU, firefox does use nvidia card to decode, but the DWM problem said above still apply.

See attatched image as prove.

I used to like Firefox because it let me set my browser up in an intuitive and comfortable way, and it was able to easily do the things I wanted to do. Then simple and useful features (e.g., tabs under the address bar) were hidden in about:config. Then they were removed completely, and you had to use third-party extensions to restore them (e.g., getting the refresh button on the address bar). Then, the third-party extensions were blocked so that you had to copy and paste third-party code into userChrome.css (e.g., restoring "View Image").

I hate updating Firefox, because it gets worse every time. This browser has turned to absolute garbage, and it just keeps circling the drain. Wasn't Firefox supposed to be the customizable browser? Mozilla seems to have decided that customization needs to be completely wiped out, and features need to be removed for...some reason?

Why is this happening? I shouldn't have to be afraid of the update button, but it's become a "make Firefox even worse" button. My only consolation now is that Mozilla won't have any more major updates for my operating system, so I might be okay for a few months.

A few days ago, Firefox updated itself. Suddenly, every link opens a new tab that says "Anti-phishing Protection is scanning your link..." and the original tab opens a window that says "Anti-phishing Protection - You are attempting to open an insecure link. Are you sure you want to proceed?"

I cannot find anywhere to turn this off or fix this ridiculous situation?
