I need to configure a keyboard command -- or else find an Add-on -- that will "return" -- from the current tab, to the previous tab -- that was displayed in the same Firefox window.

Years ago there was an Add-on that provided this function -- but it was never updated to work on later Firefox versions... I have looked recently, and found nothing similar -- but does anyone know if there is an Add-on to provide this function, that will work on Firefox v77 ?

If not, then how can we forward the following suggestion to Mozilla?

Similar to Alt-Tab calling the Windows "switch Window" action -- Ctrl-Alt-Tab would (ideally) switch Tabs in Firefox, to display the previously displayed Tab, in the (same) top window.

Thank you,

BillK

A lot of firefox is customizable via userchrome or extensions, however one thing that does not seem to be is the default PDF.js viewer. I would like to continue using it; however, I would like to change the styling on it (specifically I want to change how page breaks are rendered, which I already have the CSS for). Extensions obviously will not work as it is an internal file, userChrome doesn't work (I tried it), and I can't seem to find where the viewer is actually located on my PC (Search Everything brings nothing relevant up for pdfjs, pdf.js, or viewer.html.) Is there any way that I can modify the inbuilt PDF viewer?

PS this is probably unimportant but I noticed that https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/web/viewer.html has slightly different CSS from the built in version .

Greetings forum -

I have Firefox on automatic update. Last night Firefox auto updated to version 78.0.1 and this update added pre-installed bookmarks suggestions that appear when I click the command line.

These pre-installed bookmarks suggestions are offensive trash like: facebook, twitter, reddit, etc.

I have searched the help section. I have scoured the customize pull down menus. I have looked through the bookmark editor ... and found no clear method of removing these pre-installed bookmarks suggestions.

There MUST be a way to do so. I CAN NOT see facebook, twitter, and reddit in my bookmarks every time I click on the command line.

Does anyone know of a method to remove these pre-installed bookmarks suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your time and knowledge.

toolbarbutton[id*="8883111b-4bc8-4a99-b37f-5672f6cf9834"]

Controls an icon added to the toolbar.

What's the syntax for controlling an icon added to the context-menu by an extension?

Example: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simple-search-google-for/

(It does not have an ID in manifest.json but *I can add it*).

Thank you.

I spend 12+ hours a day in front of a computer and blank pages hurt my eyes. I use dark mode wherever possible.

I've changed the background color of about:blank already and it works as I expected.

However, when a request is fired to load a web page, there's a quick transition which may paint the canvas totally blank before starting rendering the requested page. Since this transition may take a couple of seconds sometimes in my environment, the screen flashes blank onto my face, really hurting my eyes used to most of things dark most of the time.

Is there a way to configure the color of this transitioning blank page, please?

Thanks a lot in advance. :-)

How can I disable 'backspace' key from navigating back a page?

I found an old article that said to set a value who knows where to 2, but that wasn't helpful. And I found a page that listed all the shortcuts, but didn't say how to change them. That wasn't helpful either, doggone it!

I agree with a previous poster that this "feature" is inappropriate -- using a text edit key while editing text should not cause navigation to occur.

Thanks!

I can't figure out how to get a word count of a web page. The problem: an academic website offers a tremendously long work in five parts--so lengthy I can't copy&paste into Word without getting error messages. The only extension FF has for getting a word (or character) count is Count Me Up, but you have to paste text into a little box. Shouldn't word count be a FF tool? BTW Chrome too doesn't seem to know about any word count extensions.

Hi. Since the last update of Firefox, the Languages item on the right-click menu has disappeared and I don't know how to swap between languages for spell checking any more (the explanation on page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-firefox-spell-checker doesn't correspond to what I see new: isn't it outdated?). I find where to change the display language of menus and commands in the Options, but not where to switch between spell-check dictionaries. So I have menus in Portuguese and spell-check fixed on English... Can you help, please? Thanks.

In my home network there are several servers whose URLs end with ".lan". For example http://nas.lan or http://router.lan. When I want to connect to these machines with Firefox, I usually type router.lan in the address bar. But then Firefox starts searching for router.lan on google. Afterwards I am asked if I had wanted to access http://router.lan instead and when I click "Yes" Firefox takes me where I actually wanted to go. However, this can get quite annoying over time, and I wonder if it is possible to tell Firefox to go directly to the URL I enter whenever it is a string ending with ".lan" and avoid to search for it? Don't get me wrong, I do not want to disable the search bar completely as I am very used to type in searches into the address bar directly.

Hi, I have recently discovered that I cannot save all images via the above route. Might this have something to do with an update? This feature is very useful when you are working with some technical sites that have images of interest. Instead of save the images one by one, or use additional unnecessary addons that may or may not work, I could select all images, point to a subfolder and say 'Open.' This has stopped working. My currecnt version is Firefox 84.0.2, 64-bit, on Linux. Any ideas/solutions on how to get this feature back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had to change my PROFILE, again.

Saved pw and logins to Excel. Instead of opening them one-by-one and adding them, how do I either change format to .JSON and add to profile, or add them in plain text to Lockwise?

The other day, I was viewing my PROFILES because oi horrible script error and slow browser messages and my db and json files were incomplete (by a mile) after transferring the files to the second profile.

Thank you.
