Hi, I can no longer print directly from Firefox, my printer is missing. I can only print to PDF there. This must have crept in with the last update. I am using this version 122.0-2.1 3728 latest/stable mozilla✓ My operating system is Ubuntu and I have installed Firefox from snap sources.

My laptop had windows 10. I backed up both its drives, C and D, in their entirety to an external drive and installed Linux (pop!_os), but forgot to open the browser one last time and export current tabs, bookmarks, passwords, history and so on beforehand. I believe I should have the unexported files in my backup, as the Mozilla folders are there. What files do I look for in the backup of my drives and how do I transfer them to my current installation of Firefox?

Hi,

Using Firefox on Fedora Silverblue (technically ublue), I'm getting stutters and skips through youtube videos. Have messed with combinations of hardware accel, wayland mode, and vaapi, but nothing seems to have helped. Videos work fine in vanilla Chrome.

Hardware is an AMD 7840u framework laptop.

I've been using Chrome for a long time, and I've been slowly switching over all my bookmarks, passwords, etc to Firefox. I'm running Linux mint for context.

Every time I open Firefox, it opens the home tab, and after a second or two it opens Mozilla Rally in a new tab, and it drives me ABSOLUTELY BONKERS, because I get halfway through typing in a website, and I'm redirected to this new tab I care nothing about, and for some reason cannot get rid of it in the minimal startup settings that actually exist.

That's some straight up Microsoft Internet Explorer sh!t there, and yes that was meant as an insult.

I have not been able to find any reference or any way to make that not happen, and it is seriously making me consider abandoning Firefox entirely. Don't make me go back to Chrome.

Please help.

In the network tab, I can see all the html, css, and js loaded on my page.

When I click on Start performance analysis (stopwatch icon in bottom left), it shows pie charts of the asset sizes, but CSS is missing.

When I click the back button, the network tab only shows 14 items, and no CSS.

I'm using Firefox on Linux Mint, installed through the software manager.

Hi, it has occurred to me that I lose the browsing history of tabs that were open for a long time. By browsing history i mean the sites that show up in "Go back one page" arrow. The issue is that after a website has been open for some time (this seems to be in range of days, perhaps weeks) the browsing history of that tab is forgotten and the Go back one page arrow goes blank. I would like to be able to keep this history for eternity, is there any way to enable that?

To be clear, I use the feature to save tabs of my previous sessions and also the Simple Tab Groups extension.

Thanks in advance, Alex

Hi,

I tried to visit the following pages in Firefox 121 (running under Arch Linux) and they took minutes to load. They loaded in a fraction of a second in Chromium. Anyone have any idea what is wrong?

The blogger page is here: https://u-blox-ninaw-platformio.blogspot.com/2022/03/u-blox-nina-w-e-platformio-arduino.html

Here are a few forums that take minutes to load, I think they use the same engine as I see the same colorful loading animation: https://community.platformio.org/t/error-please-specify-upload-port/26218 https://forum.manjaro.org/

Does anyone have any idea what is happening or what I should do to alert the development team? Are these sites using technology not implemented in Firefox?

Best Regards,

Kevin

After I sign in on a Stackexchange affiliated website on Google chrome, I can then visit any other Stackexchange affiliated websites and I do not need to manually sign in. Google Chrome recognizes that I'm signed in on an SE affiliate and therefore, I'm presented a prompt that asks if I want to either: cancel the automatic sign in or join the community if I've never signed in before.

How can I do this on Firefox? Also, I would like to know how to do this because it creates a complicated situation when I need to suggest to a newer user that they should ask their question on a different affiliate. I mean, it seems kind of sketchy to tell someone to "create a new account but make sure to use the same username and password". Like, that's how password stealing scams work.

But with Google Chrome, it recognizes that SE sites are affiliated and so the username and password (or the cookie for the logged in session or whatever it is) is automatically and securely submitted to the other SE site without user input. There's less confusion and an extra layer of automatic verification that the user doesn't have to worry about. This follows the basic security practice of never submitting credentials after you're already signed in on Facebook or any other social media site — if you are already signed in to your account and you are requested to "sign in to facebook to continue" for example on another site or when opening a link, it should automatically sign you in when you refresh the page. If not, then it's likely a spoofed sign in dialog or cloned web page trying to steal your password.

At the very least, it should autofill if it is a legit sign in dialog. But Firefox does not do this on SE affiliated websites and we basically have to create individual accounts, with the same username and password, on each SE website. I literally have to click to create a new account or sign in, go through my settings, copy my saved password from another SE site and submit that with my email.

Lastly, this also applies to SE affiliates that don't have "stackexchange" in the URL such as Superuser and AskUbuntu. I can sign in on AskUbuntu and then when I go to Math Stackexchange or Superuser, I'm automatically signed in.

In the screenshots, you can see how there is the option to "join this community" when using Google Chrome. This option doesn't exist when using Firefox. After joining, there's an additional confirmation prompt that explains about automatic sign in, which also does not happen on Firefox.

When i attempt to open any file ending in .md - even an empty file - the browser opens a new tab repeatedly, failing to ever render the file.

Ubuntu 20.04 Firefox 122.0.1

Settings > General > Applications: Content Type = Markdown Document Action = Open in Firefox

Extensions and Themes > Extensions None

As a workaround, I set Action = Save File for Content Type = Markdown Document. This allows me to stop the loop, but it never renders the document.

Using v115.7 in debian 12.

I prefer to open pdf files with the default viewer in the operating system, not on a firefox browser tab. I have gone into settings->general->applications and configured selected "Use system default application" for PDF files. If I click on a pdf file it downloads to my Downloads folder, which is the usual and preferred behaviour. If I click the downloaded files icon on firefox's toolbar, I see the file I downloaded, all good. If I open the folder with all downloaded files, and click on the file, it opens in the OS's default viewer, all good. On the other hand, if I click on the downloaded files icon on firefox's toolbar and simply select the downloaded file from the displayed list, it opens on a firefox browser tab. This is driving me bananas. How do I configure firefox to launch the default system application instead?
