Using FF, Google search terms are overlaid with any time/any file/any language. The result means that I cannot see the search term properly to edit or add to. This shows a screenshot of the problem. http://t.co/LAU0DLKW

I think the problem is a glitch in either the rendering engine in FF or some problem with Google. Can anyone help?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling FF (both 11 and 12b3) and erasing all history but neither has worked.

I found 2 similar questions from 10 mo. ago on forum, ea. w/ 25-30 additional people experiencing the prob. 2 weeks ago i asked about 2 problems, have been unable to repair them. Now focussing on this one only. Session restore does not function after quitting, and Restore previous session, recently closed tabs, recently closed windows all grey. I've tried everything short of uninstall/reinstall FF. Was suggested to create new profile w/o corrupted files, but I've no idea what's corrupted. I'm no geek, but can usually follow instructions. however, my concentration is impaired, so I'm really afraid of making things worse.

After looking through the forums, this seems to be identical to the issue relating to a Firefox 7 update. However, all the tools to bring back the add-ons have been taken down as the problem was fixed in 7.0.1.

Is there a way to solve this problem in Firefox 12? All my add-ons appear to be functioning correctly (NoScript, TMP, etc.) and I can even access the prefs for those that put a link to them in the Tools menu or I have placed on the address bar via a button. But they do not appear in the about:add-ons window which reports that "You have any add-ons of this type installed."

when I have download files I have set forefox to put them on the desktop. Even though I haven't changed that setting it puts them in the temp folder. I have tried to reset it a few times but nothing has changed. If I download podcasts it still goes to that folder and windows media player starts to play them. This seems to have started with the latest version of forefox 12.0 beta Any Ideas would be appreciated. xp pro

I always ask this question when switching to a new platform/interface.

I'm in the process of developing a simple firefox plugin that allows users to view .mkv video on the browser.

Just how someone would develop a plugin for .mp4 video support.

My question is this: How will firefox know to use my plugin when it is trying to stream .mkv video?

As far as I'm concerned all plugins need to be running and firefox needs to cycle thorough them, testing each one to see if it can play the video.

This is slightly confusing. I already know how to get plugins to install, and the programming part where I incorporate support for a given file type is fairly easy.

But, how will firefox know when to use my plugin?

Thanks,

I can't display certain symbols on Firefox. Example: does not show anything on the page I'm working on. However, a symbol like would show.

I discovered a hack that displays the symbol by changing the tag.

with an h1, h2 tag and so on, it will display the symbol. This hack, however is semantically incorrect and I don't want it in my site just so the symbol can display on Firefox. My site already has the <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> just as this one.

Any suggestions?
