I am attempting to create a customized installation package for Mozilla Firefox v40.0.3.

>> OS : Windows 7 SP1 x64 <<----

I have performed a Custom installation of the browser (unchecked 'Install Maintenance Service' check-box).

After successful installation, copied the following files to the respective directories:

1. Copied 'local-settings.js' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref'

Contents of this file-----------

pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");

2. Copied 'mozilla.cfg' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox'

Contents of this file-----------

// pref("browser.startup.homepage", http://intranet/); pref("browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser", false); pref("app.update.auto", false); pref("app.update.enabled", false); pref("app.update.service.enabled", false); pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.use_old_max", false); pref("browser.search.update", false); pref("datareporting.healthreport.uploadEnabled", false); pref("signon.rememberSignons", false);

After performing these steps, when I attempt to launch firefox, it fails to launch at all. No errors are displayed. In Task manager, I noticed firefox.exe getting invoked but it exits within seconds.

What is the cause? Please help.

Hi,

I know you have all seen this question before but none of the answers I have found work for me. My site loads perfectly fine in other browser, just not Firefox.

I have a local website with a style sheet that is saved in the same folder:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css" />

I have defined the character sets in the HTML and CSS documents:

HTML = CSS = @charset "UTF-8";

I have both the latest updates for Chrome, IE and Firefox as of today.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi all,

We have discovered an odd issue with Mozilla (several current versions tested) and one of our websites. There is a two stage login - username & password followed by eg mothers maiden name on subsequent page

When a new instance of firefox is opened then on completing the login answers the user is immediately returned back to the login page with a 'your session has timed out' message - basically our software returns our timeout page. If, on the same page you then login again everything is fine. If you close your window and open a new one then the problem occurs again. This is not cache related as I have done a lot of testing which almost certainly eliminates that.

Could anybody please offer further ideas? The site is https I have after googling tried a couple of random things like adding the site to exceptions list but no change. I have used developer console to follow the network calls and without a massive analysis, things seem to be correct.

I have tested in safe mode also so it is not related to extensions or add ins

Thanks for any advice.

if ( document.styleSheets[i].rules !== undefined ) {

                   cssRule = document.styleSheets[i].rules[ii];
                   }
               else if ( document.styleSheets[i].cssRules !== undefined ){
                   cssRule = document.styleSheets[i].cssRules[ii];
                   }

the above code causes a security exception when the tab is already open and another page from the same domain has already been accessed. Note that the original access does not cause a security exception. The security exception is on the "else if" rather than the "if" statement. If I kill the browser and reopen the same page the security exception does not occur. I have tried everything I can think of the prevent any CORs based exception from happening.

To recreate this behavior use: https://www.fanaticmasks.com/test/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=7 The page should not throw the security exception

Alter the url to: https://www.fanaticmasks.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=7 And it does throw the exception.

To my understanding of COR this is the EXACT SAME DOMAIN.

But for some reason, firefox gets upset about css rules access for no apparent reason. I have also used the built in functions to a. clear cache b. clear history (ALL history)

but unless I restart firefox the security exception still fires. This appears to be a browser issue since I used php to prevent CORs exceptions at the server.

My research via google only turns up old solutions that I can demonstrate don't solve the problem. I can trap the exception, but I need the rule in order for my animation to work.

If necessary I can make a small example show the behavior.

I have had problems with a html BASE tag in the zen cart package but I can't see how that would affect this problem, since the BASE tag is in both pages.

I run ecommerce site, which was using standard ‘Positive SSL’ using the following SSLCipherSuite ALL:!ADH:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+SSLv2:+EXP.

I’ve not had a problem with Firefox users accessing the site, but today, I removed the Positive SSL cert and replaced it with a ‘Positive Wildcard SSL’

The site is fine with other browsers but when testing on Firefox (no other changes made) I get the following error: --- Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to www.sussexcookers.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap) The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. --- Now I’m obviously the site owner – and I suspect I will be contacted by my users shortly! So I want to address this problem for them. So any help is appreciated!

Now I concluded that – after performing clean install of Firefox on test machine, that the problem is related to SSLCipherSuite, I tried implementing a number of CipherSuites which corrected the problem on test machine, but doesn’t fix the problem for customers who have already visited the site and are returning. The problem is still present on my main development machine and second test machine I use. I’m currently running the following CipherSuite as specified by the Wiki: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Server_Side_TLS ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:DHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256:DHE-DSS-AES128-GCM-SHA256:kEDH+AESGCM:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-SHA256:ECDHE-RSA-AES128-SHA:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES128-SHA:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-SHA384:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-SHA:DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES128-SHA:DHE-DSS-AES128-SHA256:DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA256:DHE-DSS-AES256-SHA:DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:ECDHE-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:ECDHE-ECDSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:AES128-GCM-SHA256:AES256-GCM-SHA384:AES128-SHA256:AES256-SHA256:AES128-SHA:AES256-SHA:AES:CAMELLIA:DES-CBC3-SHA:!aNULL:!eNULL:!EXPORT:!DES:!RC4:!MD5:!PSK:!aECDH:!EDH-DSS-DES-CBC3-SHA:!EDH-RSA-DES-CBC3-SHA:!KRB5-DES-CBC3-SHA

Is this a bug or is there setting I need to change to address this problem. At the moment I fear that anyone who as viewed my site in Firefox prior the certificate change won’t be able to view the site with the new certificate unless they re-install Firefox or rinse the certificate database. Which is not viable steps for my average customer.

Any help or advice would be super appreciated thanks!

Basically I have a couple of websites I need to whitelist for the popup blocker on several computers including a Terminal Server. I can't seem to find a good way of doing this because the settings are not registry based so a GPO won't work. Now the key is to be able to modify this not only for new users but existing users as well. I really would not want to have to log into each user's account and configure this so if it's as simple as modifying a preferences file and copying that everywhere I'm ok with that.

I'm making automatic installer for special Firefox extensions. I have read couple of articles about that, but none of the described methods are not helped. What I tried to do:

- Placed .xpi file and unpacked unpacked extension directory in %FF_DIR%\browser\extensions
- Placed .xpi file and unpacked unpacked extension directory in %FF_DIR%\extensions
- Placed unpacked extension directory in another directory and added record in registry (`HKLM\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions`, key is extension id and value is full path to unpacked extension)

In all ways name of unpacked extension directory was:

- Random name
- ID from install.rdf #1 (`{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}` for example)
- ID from install.rdf #2 (`prism@developer.mozilla.org` for example)

And, as i said, all methods don't give me expectable result. Firefox don't show extensions in list and don't show any notification. How can i solve it? What actual method using in current version of FF? Target browser is Firefox 41, system - Windows 7 x64 Thanks!

I'm a web designer and I'm having an issue were a user who is already logged in arrives on a page which allows them to update information on their account as well as update their password with a set of Current password, New password, re-enter password fields. I'm seeing that in firefox for users with password manager information saved, the first password field filled is being auto-completed by Firefox password manager and the entry field above the password reset section is populated by the username, despite the fact this field is not for a username.

I will note that this issue only occurs when the input field directly above the password field is intentionally blank (value="").

Is there any thing I can do without altering the layout of the page so that Firefox password manager will not incorrectly insert data into this field?

We have been experiencing a problem with our reductive navigation on pokershop.com. This is the filtered navigation on the left side of the screen when you are looking at any of the main categories. This is used to help narrow the shopping options for people so that they can more easily find what they want. We didn't change anything on our end regarding the navigation. Honestly, we haven't changed any of that coding in a couple years. We've tried finding a way to fix it going through our programmer and web host and have not been successful. At this juncture, I'm reaching out to you to see if there is anything you can help us with. We've gone through our coding line by line (the problem was replicated on a sister website, bingoshop.com) and we have not been able to find an error, the reductive navigation simply stopped working. Please, help.
