The option to restore previous session on start up does not work now. Firefox asks to close all the tabs and loads homepage on startup.

please help i am panicking so much right now i would type in all caps but i know that wont help

my session has a very very large amount of tabs and it only just started slowing down in the past 24 hours. ive never had trouble before today, but i just restarted and it only loads a completely blank page with the tab name New Tab

there is no option to restore previous session, and both restore closed tabs and restore closed windows options are empty in the library section

ive opened 2 windows and refuse to close either because im afraid it will completely remove all of my tabs forever. i will only restart in safe mode if i get a really good explanation and reason. anything that sounds risky i would really need a good explanation before i do it please

ive done verify integrity in the about:places section i think its called. ive looked around for my problem and ive submitted some recent crash report which could've been when the browser lag started

Thank you

Avast wanted to removed an Addon it didn't like so I allowed it to get rid of it. But Avast Destroyed My Previous Session! How Do I Get it Back? I clicked on 'Restore All Windows' but all I got was a bunch of new windows and on only one Window of about 8 that are now lost or gone. Months to build... now if I can't restore these, it will take weeks or a month or more to build back what I had!

I had the "Restore previous session" checked at the Startup, so every time I closed and reopened Firefox my previous tabs used to appear. However, this last time I closed Firefox, when I reopened I saw Firefox is installing update message (81.0.2), then none of the previous tabs came back.

Startup still has the same 'restore previuos session' checked.

"Recently closed tabs" is grayed out.

How do I get my tabs back?

Thanks.

I have been using the "restore session" feature along with a setting in Firefox to load all tabs simultaneously in the background for a while now and it has worked great. But after the latest update to Firefox about two weeks ago (now version 67.0), Firefox only loads 10 tabs of the previous session, instead of all of them like it used to. I need about 30 tabs for work, so this feature made it very convenient. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I had a Windows 10 crash. When I relaunched Firefox, it updated me with old tabs. When I checked sesionstore-backups, I found that my previous.js and recovery.js date back to 2017. Nothing I do seems to lead to their being updated.

Oddly enough, the tabs restored were not from 2017 but from earlier this month, probably when I last rebooted my PC. Two files in the profile have been updated:

upgrade.jsonlz4-20200403064753 on 4/7/2020 recovery.baklz4 in real time.

So, my two questions are: 1) Going forward, can I rename recovery.bklz4 to previous.jsnolz4 and use that to restore my previous session? 2) is there any way within Firefox to manually force it to update previous.jsnolz4

I left the tab open and shut down the computer and log on again, but the tabs disappeared, and when I close the tabs at once, the button to restore the previous session comes out as soon as I turn on Firefox. So I tried to try to find out how to restore the previous session, search for it and let Mozilla know how to do it, but it does not fit my Firefox. I'm up-to-date but I do not know if the version is different. This is because there is no version in the explanation. First of all, if you click on the menu, you can not see the tab for restoring the previous session. Also, when the session is restored, there is no match for my case, and there is no last window and tab view when launching Firefox in the General panel in Settings. Once I have found all the fixes in my Firefox configuration, I have checked the old panel under the start page in the General panel, and I left it in my history. Cookies and site data are also available until the expiration date. No, it was already there. But the tabs disappeared. As a result of my thought, I deleted the entire visit record in the morning. I've kept tabs on Firefox ever since. But I do not think it would be a problem if I deleted my records. This is because the closed tabs are recorded as soon as the tabs are closed even if the history is deleted. I've looked into the add-on to see if there are apps that revert closed tabs, but nothing I thought of. What I'm saying is that Mozilla support is different from the latest version of Firefox. Therefore, other users are uncomfortable and uncomfortable. Also, I want to know why the closed tabs did not reopen as I said so far. And how do I know if I can revert closed tabs back to normal? I have a long question, but please answer it in detail. I do not know how to speak English. There may be awkward sentences, but I hope you understand. request.

Upgrade v.62.0.2 dumped a few hundred tabs open in 5 different windows and for some reason did not to offer to "Restore previous session" despite its having been selected in Options > General. It has worked fine for months until this edition.

Fortunately I've got OneTab's option available but I haven't need it and the last save is several months old. It seems to me that "Restore previous session" being a basic function in OPTIONS should have necessitated its operational validation before release of this FF version.

Is there any file such as Roaming>Mozilla>Firefox>Profiles>[default profile].default/places.sqlite that contains a record of all tabs?

Hi, currently I opened many tabs in Firefox with tree style tab. Recently I found that my session not restore to the point I closed it but the specific time. (In this case, the session I close on 2020/03/12). For the tab I opened/closed after that seems not be stored. I also checked and found that the sessionstore.jsonlz4 was not updated. As my knowledge that this file should be removed when Firefox executed but it seems not. I may wish to ask if there is any solution to fix this problem while keep my current open tabs. Thanks for the help.

Under options, I have Firefox set to restore my previous session when it reopens. Most of the time it does this just fine, but twice this summer it has lost all of my previous tabs. I read about, and found the recovery.jsonlz4 and recovery.baklz4 files, but they include only the tabs from the current session, not any of the former tabs. I often have dozens to hundreds of tabs open, and this is mightily annoying. Any ideas why this happens, how to prevent it in the future, and is there any hope of finding those lost tabs? I'm strongly considering ditching Firefox for another browser.

After upgrading to FF 84, my previous sessions are no longer saved and restored unless I restart in Safe Mode.

- I have Restore previous session checked in Preferences.

- I have opened new windows and tabs and one by one disabled and restored every add-on that I have had enabled and quit and restarted each time, until every single add-on has been disabled, and still the previous sessions are not saved and restored.

- I have looked in the sessionstore-backups folder with each restart, and there is never any file for the previous sessions in it.

- Again, even when there are absolutely no add-ons enabled, the previous session is not saved and not restored.

- Again, only when I restart in Safe Mode is the previous session saved and restored.

What is the solution?

When I reload Firefox after my computer crashes or freezes and needs to be restarted, Firefox will offer to restore my previous session. Half the time it works perfectly, but the other half it loads tabs from almost a week prior. There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why one happens over the other.

I have the option to restore previous tabs set correctly. I have exited and reopened Firefox twice and neither time did it open my previous tabs. And my history is empty. How can I keep this from happening in the future?

I downloaded a new version of FireFox and tried to quit FireFox normally. It didn't quit so I ForceQuit it. When I brought it back up, the selection to Restore Previous Session was grayed out. I am running OS X High Sierra.

Specifically, I tried to quit FireFox normally, then I ran a Time Machine Backup and when that was done, I Force Quit FireFox. Upon trying to bring up FireFox at this point was when the selection to Restore Previous Session was grayed out.

Can you please tell me where any back up session files are and what I would need to do to restore my prior sessions to FireFox. Since I was doing a Time Machine backup, I may be able to look there as well.

Thank you in advance for your help.

After my virus checker interrupted Firefox as it was opening (to remove a "telemetry" add-on or something), I reopened Firefox to find it would now only restore three of the ten windows from the previous session.

Obviously I would like to get back those other windows if possible. After some fiddling around, I opened my "sessionstore-backups" folder and discovered both the "recovery.jsonlz4" and "previous.jsonlz4" files contained the recent incomplete session rather than the older one I wanted.

I figure my last hope at recovering some of my lost tabs is the file "upgrade.jsonlz4-20180830143136". Am I right in thinking it can be used as a restore point? I have tried renaming it to "recovery.jsonlz4" while deleting the more recent "recovery.jsonlz4". Yet for some strange reason, when I restart Firefox it keeps going back to the deleted recent session file.

I have been copying the more recent "recovery.jsonlz4" to my Data drive before deleting it from "sessionstore-backups" - could that be causing the problem? It's in the Recycle Bin too. I'm just reluctant to delete it entirely.

In short: Why does Firefox keep restoring a session I've deleted? How can I make it restore the older upgrade file?

When I start up firefox again it asks me if I wan't to restore my last session, but sometimes the session is restored in the state of an old bookmark and not my last session.

Tabs I had open are gone, tabs I closed are restored, because they were bookmarked. I've deleted the bookmark but I continue to have this problem how do I fix this.
