Windows Xp 32 bit, Avast security. Ever since your last (2) updates my page will crash anywhere, e mail, Facebook, etc. Most importantly, I constantly have my entire page disappear & the Error Plug In container .exe crashed. Before those (2) updates I NEVER had either problem. I have used Safe mode. Uninstalled, reinstalled Flash. reset Firefox, Uninstalled & reinstalled Firefox. Do you have any more suggestions? I would like to go back before those (2) updates. I don't remember what "Number" that was. Is that possible? This is driving me crazy!!!!!

Recently Firefox has started crashing a lot because the plugin container stops. I've tried a lot of different things and I'm getting tired of constantly researching new things to try online.

Things that I tried from the crash troubleshooting page: Made sure Firefox, my plugins, Windows, and my drivers are all updated Scanned for viruses and spyware Scanned and repaired my hard drives Since most sources said it's probably Flash causing the problems, I've enabled/disabled hardware acceleration, both through Flash and through Firefox options. It was originally disabled on both when the crashes began.

I haven't tried Safe Mode or disabling different addons and plugins because the crash doesn't happen at any specific time. Sometimes it crashes as soon as I start Firefox, and sometimes it doesn't crash at all the entire day. But a decent amount of the time it crashes every few hours. Since I don't know what's triggering it, disabling all my addons or individual ones and just waiting for it to crash doesn't sound like a good idea to me, since I wouldn't know if the problem was fixed or if it just wasn't crashing at the time, and if I have to go a substantial amount of time without my addons, I'd rather just switch browsers (which I really don't want to do).

The most recent crash's ID is: bp-2fe4d28b-c5ce-4419-9299-c56172160115.

Normally I have about 20 or so tabs open, mainly stuff I want to come back to with a few active tabs. This has been my practice for years and I haven't had any trouble with it before unless the tabs get really out of hand, in which case I go through and prune them back. I start up Pandora radio as soon as I start Firefox and have it loaded constantly. I watch a decent amount of Youtube, but some of the crashes happen when I'm not on Youtube or any other Flash website other than Pandora. And a few times it's crashed before I even loaded Pandora. Anyway, if there's anything you can do to help, I'd really appreciate it! This has had me tearing my hair out for a week or so now.

At random (apparently...) times, the "plug-in Container for Firefox (32 bit)" will either go into what appears (to this experienced programmer...) to be an infinite loop, or crash altogether. The website being displayed apparently doesn't matter, as long as it uses Flash or JAVA. I've had the problem with: Xfinity E-mail, Flickr, and this very support website. This is frustrating as all get-out, and is forcing me to consider going to Chrome as my primary Web-reader, when I've been a dedicated Firefox user since the single-digit versions...

I am using a Dell Dimension XPS running MS Windows XP, Professional, ver. 2002, service pack 3.

I recently upgraded Flash because there were messages indicating that was required. After that upgrade the browser began to slow down and lock up, especially when playing Zinga Texas Holdem Poker but other times as well. I saw in Windows Task Manager that plugincontainer.exe was using an inordinate amount of memory. and the processors were maxed out. By deleting the plugincontainer.exe process from the task manager, the problem would sometimes be solved. However doing this would always crash Flash and end my poker game. I then went through the process of deleting plugincontainer.exe from my computer, but this removed my ability to use Flash. I then restored Firefox which reintroduced the plugincontainer.exe and the problems returned and it also deleted all the apps I had added to my browser. Still can't play poker because of slowdowns and lockups that also occur with other process like filling out forms while in the browser. Not happy with Firefox right now even though I have used it happily for many years.

See above. I went to my control panel & tried to uninstall Firefox and that just sits there and nothing happens. I cannot use the current version of Firefox as noted above. When I loaded the update first, it says it loaded and then when I tried to use Firefox, it said something about a plug-in canister not working. That's when I restored my computer to a couple of weeks back which got rid of the update and gave me the previous version of Firefox. That does not come up either now. How can I get rid of it and reinstall Firefox from scratch?

Recently on my little brother's Windows 8.1 computer I look in reliability monitor to see if anything happened and for the past week every few days I see plugin-container.exe stopped working. I inquire and he says he didn't notice anything crashed or whatever, and said Firefox didn't freeze or anything. In reliability monitor I went to more details and it says the module path was Unity player or something. I'll get on the computer and give more info if needed. And went to crash reports but the last report was from October 31st, nothing on the supposed plugin container crashes that occurred Wednesday, Friday, and today. They play a game called Roblox, but I don't know if that uses plugin container. It seems after updating Adobe Flash to the latest back on October 23rd is when these started, and Firefox is up to date with v42. I saw them occur sometimes, but never so frequently as they are occurring now. What can be causing this to appear in reliability monitor? I don't use the computer so don't know exactly what occurred, but like I said, my brother told me nothing froze or crashed at the time these occurred.

I am not a computer expert but I can usually follow and cure problems

However . . . this plugin container nonsense is getting worse by the hour. And no, I don't have a bloody virus!

It's the clash between Mozilla and Adobe that's at the heart of this and it's scandalous that nobody is owning up.

I'd like to stay with Firefox, but I'm at the end of my tether.

Is there a solution?

My Firefox plug in fails constantly. It has failed 6 times since I started writing this message. It is impossible to do anything with this issue, especially when it completely resets all of my saved usernames, passwords, and logins every time it happens. It also does not show up as a crash, so according to the crash reports, I haven't had any failures in over a week.

This issue will cause me to cease using Firefox in favor of literally any other browser. I'm a college student who does most of his work online, and I have lost hours of work due to this problem. When Firefox works, I am more than happy to use it. But I won't be able to if this problem persists.

As the result, Crash reporter can neither send the crash report with data collected nor add user's comment to it. Further transmission of crash report is available only via about:crashes page after system reboot because a lot of other applications (including FF) can't be started. Graphical attributes of other opened windows belong to other applications and texts in windows' headers look spoiled. Contents of all other CHtmlView-derived windows belong to other applications (even started before this crash) becomes empty. After reboot and until next FF crash all normally works. This crash happens in -safe-mode too, FF clearance doesn't helpful. Step-by-step backout of FF ver. from 42.0 to 33.1.1 has reduced fault frequency but not removed it at all. Fault may occure on attempt of open some Web page and may not occure on the same page next time after reboot, so, it looks like cumulative and/or garbage-in-constructor problem...

I only recently began having problems with ye ole "plugin-container.exe". Upon searching, I have noticed that others have had problems for a very long time--which continue. I would Love--and I am certain that there would be Global Agreement in this--that there would be a simple solution to the problems caused by it--that do not require graduation from MIT. I would imagine that this question will cause a lot of eye-rolling among people who have trouble grasping the notion that some are more talented with circumventing problems Caused by this mozilla firefox product--without being able to grasp the notion that perhaps they lack talents elsewhere. Since some of the solutions I've read are far too in-depth for me to understand, I'd appreciate clear responses, if possible--like you were speaking to a Genuine Moron, who will do Wonderful Things for you, if you're able to help. Computer and Firefox is running slow, culprit appears to be plugin-container.exe using up CPU. The only plugins I have on "always activate: is "Open H264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc", which does not give the option of asking to activate.

Silverlight, Microsoft Office, Google Update and Adobe Acrobat are the only other non-disabled Plugins.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?
