Firefox has begun showing multiple password options when I am trying to log into a site. Several errors (and yes, I consider them ERRORS) are occurring:

1) Firefox presents passwords for EVERY account I have on the current website, not just the one I have entered in the UserID field;

and

2) Firefox presents multiple, previous versions of the password for the correct UserID.

I want this to stop, mainly because, before these errors were introduced, only the correct version of the correct UserID's password was auto-populated, and pressing the LOGIN button was all that was required.

FF 41.0.2/Windows 7 on laptop. Use Saved Password Editor 2.9.4

I may be okay, but I ask that you tell me if I am and walk me through the steps like I am a slow child (please).

I restored computer with Image, so all my passwords reverted to my old ones. I have backups on hard drive and thumb with login.jsons and key3.db from last week (those would be newly configured). What I think I can do and what I can do are a little unclear. I would, though, like to merge the two lists.

Not a new profile, but to use the passwords I spent a week changing and keep the hundreds of others I haven't gotten around to changing yet (and will not have to, now).

I think those files are write only - why can't I read them? I think I can move them from old profile to new - or vice versa - but as you can read from my info, I am unclear what to do.

Can the files be opened so I can just copy?

(As suggested, I backed up passwords using FEBE - thanks!)

Thank you.

I accidentally deleted all my saved passwords in Firefox while intending to delete only one password.

I have Firefox version 52, with Windows XP. All of the solutions I have found online so far only apply to later versions of Windows (7 and beyond). I understand that my logins.json file is the one which needs to be restored to its earlier condition, but I cannot find any way to do this in Windows XP.

Immediate help requested. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hard drive crashed due to multiple power outages & a brownout, and just had a new one (solid state) installed.

They got Firefox installed, and my bookmarks in place (it appears), but none of my saved passwords are there.

They did a copy of all my old hard drive's data to the new drive (and a backup on a small solid state drive), but I haven't been able to find a way to get Firefox to locate & use them. It is saving new ones I create, but the old ones (probably a hundred or more) aren't there.

I'm not very computer savvy, so if anyone has a simple, step-by-step method of doing this, I'd REALLY appreciate it!

I'm on Win10 (upgraded from Win7 Home Premium a couple of months ago), and the latest version of Firefox.

I have dozens and dozens of passwords being managed/stored/saved through Firefox. They have been deleted multiple times now and I'm getting fed up. It seems like it might be happening after a Firefox update. Why is this happening? Why has this not been an issue for years and now it's monthly? I'm extremely close to quitting using Firefox completely if it's not fixed. This is ridiculous

Under privacy and security - forms and passwords - I have checked "Ask to save logins and passwords" - Many times - when visiting a new site - the dropdown that asks if I want to save - does not appear - and/or - the login is there - but the password is not saved. "Password Editor" in add-ons is not compatible with my version of Firefox - Without going crazy - there should be a way - under this setting - "privacy and security" - to Manually add a web-site with login/password. And if not - why not?

hello

since last week, my saved logins have disappared. I tried with a win10 system recovery (there were 2 timestamps available): both didn't work, linked to a problem with Firefox profile (but error message doesn't show up fully so hard to see what is wrong).

Via shadowexplorer, I was able to export the following files from previous system recovery backups: key3.db key4.db & logins.json .

If I copy these to a new (or existing profile), the logins.json file is renamed to logins.json.corrupt

I have seen that there was a similar problem with AVG-users, but I run Comodo internet security premium...

Any clues how to retrieve the logins??

thx in advance!

I used to be able to save my security questions in the password manager. There was an add on that let you add extra entries, but it no longer works with the new fireforx.

I wanted to make a suggestion to the firefox programmers to let us add whatever entries we want to the manager so we can save our security questions. Or make the manager ask us to save when we type in security questions.

Greetings,

I've tried all avenues that normally resolves the issue of unsaved passwords, including cleaning out caches, running in safe mode etc. In fact, I tried two different MacOSX machines, one running running 10.13.8, the other 10.14.1. Nothing works, Firefox does not offer to save credentials. I thought there might be some new HTML trick to disable login saving I'm not aware of but Safari had no problem saving the password. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I want to ADD a UserId to the dropdown menu in Windows 7 and Windows 10.

I am trying to get Firefox to store an additional USERID (not Password) in the dropdown menu for logging into a website(S). I use different UserId's for different websites and would like to have them listed in the dropdown menu so I can click on them instead of typing them in everytime I visit a website.

The dropdown menu that asks if I want to store login info only includes UserID AND Password. I do not want to store a password.

I am running with ubuntu 18.04

I know, this is an ongoing thing. I also understand that there are, possibly, other programs that might interfere with Firefox always Asking to save logins and passwords for websites. I even understand why other password programs might consider Firefox to be a danger to the security of said passwords.

I, however, want Thunderbird to ask to save regardless of what another program or whatever thinks. Given the number of thoughts on this one I suspect that, eventually, you will figure out a way to simply write it in stone no matter what another program thinks.

I notice that there are command line options. As far as I can tell I can't tell Firefox, when starting, to make sure the Ask to save logins and passwords for websites is checked but could such a thing be possible? This would allow me to add a command line when I start firefox on startup. How about "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites = 1" or, say, add a line like that to the profile page? (that might even be better and then the profile file could become kindofa ini file for users.)

Thank you...............

Just a thought..............

I have searched every support post that has anything remotely to do with my problem. I have tried booting in safe mode, downloading Firefox ESR and performing folder acrobatics with key3 and key4 files, I have disabled my anti-virus software. To no avail.

This morning, I was forced to log back in to my Firefox Browser "due to security reasons" and when I did all of my logins and passwords were gone. if I go to about:protections and scroll to the bottom of the page, Firefox Lockwise tells me that I have 158 passwords saved securely. But if I go to Logins & Passwords, there are only the 5 passwords that I have saved today since the issue began.

I NEED HELP!!!!!
