Until recently, I was able to have Firefox automatically clear all my cookies at the end of a session, EXCEPT for the cookies for websites that I had specified. This was possible by:

• Checking the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" option under `Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data`
• Setting the websties that I would like to keep cookies for, under `Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data > Manage exceptions`

Now, I simply can no longer use this feature. If I try checking the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" option, then quitting Firefox, it seems to insist on unchecking the box, then changing another section of my privacy settings. Namely the `Privacy and Security > History > Clear history when Firefox closes` section becomes checked, and inside, `Cookies` is marked as something to be cleared at the end of each session. This is unhelpful, because checking the box here means that any exceptions I set in the aforementioned section is not respected, and ALL cookies are deleted.

Am I doing something wrong? If there is a way to get it back to how it used to behave, that would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings, I've checked a few articles in Firefox to help with my question, but none of them are helping. (Here's the main article: http://example.com.) Here's the situation. Say I go to a website's Contact page and click the button to contact someone, a window appears and asks me what app I want to use to open the email. Gmail is my default email, and Firefox is my default browser, and I use Windows 10. When I open the window of options (see attached screenshot) to open the email, and I then click "Choose Other Application" (other than Firefox), I don't see the Gmail app anywhere. I then followed the directions in that link above to check my Windows settings, per its suggestion, which I did ... but in those settings, too, I got to a point where the directions no longer matched what I'm seeing on my screen. I didn't see the Gmail app anywhere. Could you let me know in simple layperson's terms how to open Gmail links in Firefox? I don't have a PhD in computer science, so please keep it very simple. Indicating the progress of a runnig download in the taskbar is ok, but when the size of the download is unknown, there is a fast animation, that keeps going and going and going. That´s very annoying, when you want to keep focused on a difficult issue elsewhere on the screen. (Sadly I have these 'endless' and slow downloads quite often at work - e.g. github.)

How can this animation be disabled?

I would happily lose the normal download progress if only this fast animation disappears.

In about:config I did not find anything applicable when searching for 'download', 'animate', 'progress' or 'taskbar'.

Hi, the squarepage extension was recently disabled due to security concerns. The settings indicate that it can still be used in private mode. I followed the linked instructions, but there is still no enable slider.

How can I enable this ?

In Chrome I can browse my bookmark tree, right click on a folder and "Add Page", which directly adds the current URL to that folder. Firefox shows only "Add (a blank) Bookmark", "Add Folder", etc. No way to add the current page. Is there a way to add that I'm not seeing, other than dragging the URL physically?

My bookmarks disappeared mysteriously yesterday while I was using the browser. All of them (I have a lot), there's nothing in the bookmarks toolbar. I use Firefox on two different machines regularly, and yesterday the second machine was fine, bookmarks still there. Today I logged on and the second computer had lost its bookmarks too.

I tried restoring. It worked on my other computer, no problem, all bookmarks returned. However, on this one the restore points are visible, but when I click them, nothing happens. I have tried restarting Firefox, no luck. Any ideas?

I have the problem with firefox AND edge, that when I want to log into my router, via 192.168.8.1, I receive message that an error has occurred or that it is not secure.

How do I avoid these messages? I have made rules in my Bitdefender to allow it, but still it does not work. Any suggestions how to be able to log into my router, is welcomed.

Thank you RobertJ! I am now able to see DownThemAll on my toolbar and use the extension, and I thank you! The next problem is that DownThemAll downloads the name but not the midi file. Each midi when you click on it has an automatic download feature that initiates for each file so that you can automatically download the file quickly and easily, however, DownThemAll cannot download the midi. I've noticed that with Firefox 102 when I download an exe file, in this case Thunderbird Setup 102.0.exe it is renaming it to Thunderbird Setup 102.0.exe.bin.

Why is that happening now? I know the "potential risk" or downloading an .exe file but shouldn't it ask or at least warn you instead of just deciding to rename it

I didn't see a setting to disable this "feature". Is there one?

My bookmarks list are different. If I go to(click on) "View history, saved bookmarks, and more" then click on "Bookmarks" I get just a few of my bookmarks, no folders but some bookmarks from the folders. It say's "Recent bookmarks" but they're not.

If I click on "Other Bookmarks" on the bookmarks toolbar I get ALL my bookmarks and folders.

Not a biggy but I kind of miss have the ability to open a side panel with all my bookmarks and folders.

Is there any way to sync the two bookmark menus? I would prefer the first "Bookmarks" to show as the "Other Bookmarks".

Hi there,

i'd like to copy my Firefox profile from PC1 to a new PC2;

Last time i tried this, i ended up with PC2 having the same "name" as PC1 in "Sync". This caused weird sync issues, as the system thought my PC2 was PC1 as vice versa.

So, is it possible to copy my entire profile with all addons/settings, BUT, make "Sync" recognize it as a NEW pc ?

So the Reddit website seems to load, but ends up with a big old blank white page. I've cleared my cache, I've cleared my DNS cache. I've pressed ctrl + f5, I've rebooted the computer. Nothing seems to be aloowing mt to open reddit. Please advise.

Everytime Firefox wants me to add something as search engine. For example I open YouTube and in the address bar it says ADD YOUTUBE. I cannot share screenshot because it just says uploading and not uploading anything from all my devices.

I cannot seem to reach https://community.esri.com/ via Firefox but can reach it fine with Chrome and Edge.

Firefox says "The page isn’t redirecting properly. An error occurred during a connection to community.esri.com. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

So I even added the page to list of Exceptions, but still cannot reach site.

Starting today, with firefox 102 (on Ubuntu 20.04), I cannot open a url using the address bar. If I enter a url and then hit Enter, it brings up my selected search engine looking for that url, not opening the url itself. This has not happened before today. Is there a way to use the address bar only for opening addresses, and use the search bar for searching?

I recently installed Firefox 102.0.1 64-bit on a new WinX laptop. Using the same link as always (http://www.henderson.lib.nc.us/) I am unable to connect with my county library. I'm not having trouble with other sites. The error message says

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.hendersoncountync.gov. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

   The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
   Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I turned off HTTPS-Only Mode but the problem persisted. I also tried entering this site as an exception for HTTPS-Only but that didn't help. Even after restarting the computer, Firefox continues to reset the URL to HTTPS from HTTP. My wife was able to access this website on her desktop WinX with Firefox and no problem. On my WinX desktop with Firefox I connected to https://www.hendersoncountync.gov/library instantly.

Is the HTTPS-Only Mode sticky? What am I missing?

Hello, i often use the j,k,l keys to scroll/pause videos on youtube and i often get the "weird" bar at the bottom of the page. I cannot tell you exactly what it is. The question is: how turn off this? I am attaching a screen shot.

I used to watch the TED videos using the links in their email. Then some time ago they stopped playing. It accesses the website and video but there is a circle going around and nothing happens. I tested the same on Microsoft Edge and it works. I do not like Edge and hopefully, you can solve this issue because it is important. I have looked at all the solutions online but they do not fix the problem. I use Windows 11 and everything is up to date.

Firefox 102.

I have multi-accounts containers and pinned two tabs for two twitter accounts.

In one of these accounts I copied a link to a tweet and wanted to open it in the other account. So I selected the right tab and past the link in the address bar and press enter. Firefox then opened this url in a new tab instead of the current pinned tab. It seems pinned are locked but there is no context menu entry to unlock them without having unpin them.

Is there a hidden option in about:config that would allow to change the url of a pinned tab ? I want a pinned tab that work the same way as a regular one if I want to.
