I am using pihole and i've learned that firefox ignores it.

Supposedly, because it has DNS OVER HTTPS enabled by default.

So i disabled it, and it still doesn't work ( ignores DNS settings and loads websites that are blacklisted in my pihole - only firefox does this, chrome and edge dont have this problem )

I've set it to my pihole server - and it still works.

I've set it to CUSTOM and put in a 0.0.0.0 as IP and IT STILL WORKS

how???

i am just trying to use pihole but i can't comprehend why would a browser ignore all these settings ...

how do i make it work?

thanks.

Hi. I'm trying to download an installer .msi file from a valid link. If I do this in Chrome it simply pops it into the Downloads folder as it should. In Firefox, it downloads and then displays as a text page of garbage. It seems the file is wrongly defined as text/plain on the server rather than as a binary.

However, I've looked into my Firefox settings to see if I can define the handling behaviour of that file type. I can't! Amazingly to me, the .msi file type can not be added to the list manually. There is no "Add File Type" functionality in there. It seems as though I have to handle the file in Firefox for it to see that that type exists and then it will let me add it to the Downloads/Applications area of settings.

I can right click on the link and choose Save File As which gets round it, but then I still cannot see the .msi file type to add it to the Applications list. Can anyone tell me what I am missing here?

Hi there!

I'm attempting to migrate my Firefox (106.0.3) profile from the Linux Mint V20.3 on one SSD to a new installation of Linux Mint V21 on a separate SSD. I'm using the information supplied on this page:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Step 4, under Backing up your profile says: Right-click on your profile folder (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default), and select Copy.

This folder, qspfoqtl.default, contains 1 file, named times.json, the contents of which are:

{ "created": 1618792039414, "firstUse": null }

Clearly, not my Firefox profile.

There is, however, a folder named nnob5aww.default-release that contains a bunch of directories and files (505.4MB) with names like bookmarkbackups, browser-extension-data... storage, weave.

Is this documentation incorrect as of this release of Firefox? And, should I be using the nnob5aww.default-release folder as the profile? I'm a little confused. (Most often, I'm a lot confused.) Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

- Ralph

Running Win10 and latest Firefox browser. Trying to get rid of 'Your browser is being managed by your organization' Followed Regedit instructions - only default is listed - no policy. Looked in Mozilla Firefox in Program Files & Program Files (x86) - no policies.json in Distribution. Even did a search in those subfiles - nothing. So how do I get rid of this? I was searching 'Broiling Frigidaire Induction' and one of the videos corrupted my original Firefox. I needed a hard stop to get our of that. I deleted the app and reloaded, and I keep getting the 'Browser managed...' message. Bummer!

Hi

If I click my way through https://www.mozilla.org/de/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release I get a different Link everytime. So as someon who wants to distribute Firefox on different PC's , I want to know: Are there any direct download links for the latest version? The best would be some links like Webex has for distribution (e.g. https://mozilla.org/firefox/windows/FirefoxInstaller.exe)

Hi,

TL:DR, Firefox 108 refuses to update to Version 109.

Firefox refused to update to 109, repeatedly said 108 was the latest version. I was sick of websites breaking so I decided to reinstall Firefox, and the website worked perfectly fine on the reinstalled one, since that app is on 109.

Unfortunately, it caused a whole host of problems since I have two Firefoxes on my laptop. When I finally got rid of the older Firefox, it worked fine…

…until I restarted my laptop. Upon launching Firefox, it crashed my laptop and when it rebooted, the Firefox reverted back to version 108 with 109 nowhere to be found.

How can I get Update 109 on my laptop? Thanks in advance.

The installation downloads and installs as it should. Firefox has been selected as the default browser and everything appears as it should. When I open Firefox and type in an address, nothing populates. No site will open on the screen. When I open settings in Firefox, nothing opens. I have completely uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it with the same result. I have a new chromebook (Lenova Duet 3) I can install and use Firefox. I have had Dashlane (password keeper) working fine with Firefox for years. The Dashlane extensions work with Chrome, but I can't seem to get them to work with Frefox. The Chrome search engines choices are limited; ones that I never use with Firefox. Is there something in the Chromebook environment that limits firefox capabilities? (Am I looking for something that just is not possible?) Is there a work around? (Any Linux tricks?) I also have asked the same question of Dashlane, but have not heard back yet. My imperfect solution is use Chrome when it is a known website, and the password is recorded with Dashlane, and to use Firefox for new searches, where the choice of search engines is better.

Has anyone developed a search engine where there are no "sponsored" results. I understand that it would probably not be free.

The bar that contained those items disappeared in Firefox after the update to 110 I believe. I don't know how to get it back, I've searched settings. The bookmarks and all the data appear to still be there. It's been there since, I think, version .9 something. I updated to windows 10 from windows 7 about 3 months back. I noticed the change immediately. I don't even know what the bar is called. I still have my windows 7 machine since I am still trying to resolve problem with windows 10 and I'm even thinking of going back to window 7. It did the update to 109 without a problem.

HELP!!

It is probably something simple by windows is more a game machine to me. I learned computers on a GE-645 to give you an idea of how old I am.
