I just downloaded the Firefox browser to my computer and need to configure my security settings in order to have access to a specific site. I have never used Firefox before.

My instructions say I must have version 1.0 or newer. I have version 100

The instructions then say to do the following:

Select Tools/Options/Advanced Icon/Encryption Tab Under Protocols select check boxes for Use SSL3.0 and Use TLS1.0 Select Privacy Icon In the Firefox will drop-down list box select Use custom settings for history Select options accept cookies from sites and Cleat history when Firefox closes De-select Remember search and form history and Remember what I have downloaded Click OK

I cannot find "Tools" Can you please tell me where to look for it and will the other items be under tools.

I need this help ASAP because I'm trying to fill out a form for a background check and security clearance that is due today.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

I dont care what you are going to say to make it sound okay, it is NOT OKAY AT ALL. Mozilla Firefox supposed to be a Privacy Browser is not making business with Meta -> Facebook, lately i really question the mental health of Mozilla, first a unique identifier, now a partnership with zucking facebook, what's next? Let me tell you something, if you are a privacy company then get the zuck away from companies who don't give a damn zuck about privacy -> facebook, mozilla can NOT simply make a deal with facebook and claim "oh dont worry it's ok your privacy is secure, bullsh!t.

You know what, i have been using Firefox since i first accessed the internet with a webbrowser, now hear this -> one more negative thing from mozilla and that's it, bye mozilla you have lost your way.

While this is only me speaking here, MANY people have already quit firefox because of what mozilla has been doing recently. Continue what you are doing now, and soon your greatest product -> firefox will be dead. When privacy partners with tracking & spyware this is the definition of suicidal behaviour. I really worry about Mozillas Mental Health lately.

I will copy paste this post to a few other mozilla releated forums, let's see how long it stays on before censorship happens.

Here a few comments from reddit users on this topic:

The article says what it says, but we all have a long memory of Facebook/ Rebranded Facebook being a company that is horrible, and not to be trusted when they put out a press release. -Nailed it

I’ve been using Firefox since like 2002. I never stopped. I really hope I don’t have to soon. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. -Nailed it

Facebook is one company you should keep away as far as possible. -Nailed it

Then read the article, and see that this is a case of Mozilla working with Meta to maintain privacy. -This person must have mental issues, time to see a doctor asap!

How can I prevent websites from tracking my mouse cursor? I was searching for the question for a long time and couldn't find any answers.

Basically. I open a site, I want to click on Back or close the tab and it sends a pop up like "wait, don't go!" etc.

Any ideas? I think about extension or option in settings/configs.

I guess like my question is very unique or was skipped by search engines.

I hope for help.

Any site I go to such as my utility companies that have a link for me to open and view my bill while logged into my online account are prevented from opening by Firefox. Their help articles define the pop-up window as a window that opens automatically. That is not what I'm talking about. I am selecting the link. I am giving the site permission to open the window. It is not automatic. Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, no other browser has this problem. please help.

Hello,

When accessing my Old Navy account they require a 2 step process for Logging In. Once I click on the login button it takes me to a page where it asks for my email. Here's where I hit the issue: FireFox Password Manager does not fill this in for me; not even the auto-fill works here. After I enter my email it then takes me to a page where my password is filled in (yay!). I'm glad that it at least fills in the password but I'd like to not have to fill in my email on the previous page.

I tried to create a new entry in Password Manager but it won't take the entire url; it shortens it. This url changes each time I go thru the process which complicates everything. I was hoping to take one of those urls (https://secure-oldnavy.gap.com/my-account/sign-in?flowId=wJb1e) but it shortened it to just (https://secure-oldnavy.gap.com). I even tried creating a new entry without the last few characters (https://secure-oldnavy.gap.com/my-account/sign-in?flowId=) but again it shortened it.

Is there a way to get FF Password Manager to provide auto-fill of my email address?

Thanks, Andre'a

I went to sign in to a website today and could not - nothing pertinent would load. I disabled ad blocking and tracking blocking extentions one by one in an attempt to figure out which of them might be the problem. When that didn't work, I disabled all of them together - still the page would not load. I then went to MS Edge, and the page loaded fine - I have only one ad-blocker extension on MS Edge. That left me to believe that the issue may have been that I am blocking ALL 3rd party cookies in FF. I decided that WAS the problem after returning to FF and removing the checkmarks from Tracking Content, Cryptominers and Fingerprinters.

I called the website to talk to technical support. I wanted to find out what 3rd parties were involved so I could decide if I wanted to turn off the blocking of those cookies while using that website.

I was told the company and it's website are not affiliated with any 3rd parties, and so their website does not attempt to set any 3rd party cookies, the user does not need to allow/accept 3rd party cookies while on their site, and therefore, my blocking of 3rd party cookies would have no affect on whether or not I can access their website. INSTEAD... I was told that the 3rd party cookies are in my browser, a part of my browser, so that my browser, and in this case, specifically Mozilla, can keep track of my movements/activities and taylor advertising and other such crap to me.

Now...I did not think my browser actually cared where online I go unless it's one of those websites that FF will block my progress to, advise of an issue and ask if I really wanna keep on going. I thought a browser was simply the vehicle, like a car, that gets you to the store, and it's the store that has the salepeople trying to get you to buy stuff. If Mozilla is setting [tracking and 3rd party] cookies for Mozilla's benefit, why would users be given the tools to block cookies and trackers and other such invasions? Or are these tools just there to make the user feel like they have control, and in reality those tools/settings mean absolutely nothing?

Am I wrong? Or did the individual I spoke with just not know what the bloody hell they were talking about?? 'Cause if they are right...then I'm VERY disappointed in Mozilla and FF. I've been using FF for MANY years because I had more control than what users of Microsoft browsers (and a few others) have.

WHO is setting the cookies? _____________________________________________ Win10 Home, Vs 21H2 (OS Build 19044, 1645) Mozilla Firefox, 100.0 (64-bit)

I have 2-Step verification on Gmail. When I go to log in I get this: Insert your security Key into the USB. I cancel out of it and get this: Your phone can’t locate your device. Move your phone closer to the device where you’re signing in, and then try again. I "Try another way" and I try to get a "one-time security code" and it forwards me to a website where the cycle begins again. If I try "Auto-recovery" it sends me to google. I can access Gmail on the same machine via Chrome, but would rather not. I can also get it on Firefox on my phone.

I did recently turn on two-step and it asked if I wanted a key, and I thought it might mean Google Authentication, I think it meant a USB key.

Any thoughts? I rather not give up Firefox.

My computer was totally locked, even after I did hard reboot. Message on screen said to call "Microsoft" to unlock. It was not MS, but a company that "represented" MS. I don't know how they did gained access or if they are legitimate or scammers. Name of company is "Instantlivehelps" or Supreme Store. They wanted $350 to unlock the computer, which I have not yet paid. I have firefox, windows 10, and Norton 360 with lifelock and a secure VPN. Is there anything about Firefox that could have helped prevent this and if so, what can I do? I run a store off, so I have to be accessible. Also, I am very much a novice at this. Thanks.

Good day. I've used Mozilla Firefox as my browser for as long as I can remember. I am now 70 years old and my best time of the evening is when I watch my Netflix series or a movie. Since 2 nights ago, however, Firefox is blocking access on both my laptops with the message "Did not Connect: Potential Security Risk" and it doesn't allow me to bypass this. It is very upsetting and I cannot understand why Netflix would suddenly have become a security risk. My son--in-law in the UK talked me through how to load another browser, which I did, and was then able to watch Netflix. The other browser didn't block it! So why does yours. I quite frankly would prefer to continue to keep Firefox as my default browser, but it seems silly to have to use a second browser just to watch Netflix? Your assistance in sorting out this problem would be very much appreciated. Thank you Sue Taylor (Ms)

Cannot connect to www.imdb.com Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.imdb.com because this web site requires a secure connection.

www.imdb.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

Seriously? Is this a joke?

There is nothing wrong with the site. It is well known and I have used it for years. Most recently as 5 days ago.

Please add an exception to this

Hello!

I always use private browsing so I thought that my history was totally not being saved, but discovered recently that when I started to type within the search field, that many of my past searches were listed in the search field with the type highlighted in purple. I had to manually go in and delete all of these past searches. I don't want any search history to be saved. Is there a setting in preferences that I'm somehow missing? Why is Firefox saving these past searches if I have it set to Always Use Private Browsing?

Thank you!
