When I scroll up or down on the touchpad in firefox, it is like I scroll past a certain threshold, and it then sends a "scroll up" or "scroll down" command.

When I do this is Chromium, it's like I'm moving the website with my fingers. Similar to how it would be on a touch screen. In other browsers, the scrolling is not discrete, but continuous.

I love firefox, but this is driving me mad when I'm browsing. Is there any fix for this?

Firefox consumes a lot of processor time in background. How to disable it?

Following options do nothing: Use recommended performance settings - dasabled Use hardware acceleration when available - disabled browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false

After some time of idle, i.e. leave the computer for some time, say over night. No suspend or hibernate. Back to the computer next morning, unlock. Then Firefox appears frozen/hang, can't switch tab (clicking tab has no response, but not really frozen, sometimes responses after dozens of seconds of lag), page also has no response. Then after around half to 2 minutes, everything back to normal.

During the "hang", CPU load is load, no memory stress (swapping/paging).

Environment:

Firefox 123.0 (64-bit), (actually it bothered me for years)

Linux 6.6.15-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.6.15-2 (2024-02-04) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hi, I watch specific streaming live show on YouTube every week. Unfortunately, I always have to play it in non-Firefox browser, because the video freezes every couple minutes, while audio track is still playing in the background. Based on the comments from the stream chat, other people have this issue too. Why? How to fix it? It is annoying. Internet connection is ok. Other browsers no issue. I have a Firefox account in order to use the sync capabilities. After a sync between desktop and phone the desktop bookmarks are on my phone in an extra folder "desktop bookmarks" and vice versa the phone bookmarks are in folder "Mobile bookmarks" in my desktop Firefox. Is this normal behaviour? I would expect them in one common folder to have a seamless synching.

I play a game at Vegas World. It's basically a free online slot machine site. I have played it for years with Chrome. Recently switched to Firefox. Playing an auto spin slot game, Firefox gets slow and hangs after about 25 spins. Chrome will go for 10,000 spins. So, Firefox is useless on game sites. I don't really expect a fix or solution. And I don't actually expect to use Firefox by the end of the day.

Firefox won't start after updating to version 123.0 on Ubuntu OS.

At the same time, no errors will appear, and there is also no specific crash report that would help understand the reason.

How to restore the previous version without losing profile data?

I've encountered a recurring issue with Firefox on Ubuntu where my master password is sporadically not recognized when typed using my external wireless keyboard. Firefox runs fine most of the time. If I right-click to download an image, or click a link to download a PDF or other file, or Save HTML, I see the "Save file" dialog, click Save and then Firefox freezes up for a while, maybe a minute or two. Pages won't scroll. I can't switch tabs. I can bring up a different firefox window and it redraws its contents, but I can't scroll or do anything else.

This didn't happen a month ago, then one day after a system upgrade, it happens every time. I'm using FF 123.0.1 on Arch Linux. 64GB RAM, so it's not a memory shortage. I have upgraded one or two times more since the upgrade when this appeared. Chromium is not affected, Thunderbird is fine, and all other software continues to be fine as before, including when saving files. Only FF has this problem.

What is the problem and solution? Are there ways to gather more info to diagnose the problem, if needed?

Hello, Firefox keeps crashing every 1 or 2 minutes. thats a new Endeavouros installation and firefox was pre-installed. system is fully updated.

A few days ago Ubuntu (22.04 LTS) showed me a message saying I can upgrade my OS (or something along those lines). I click on agree (any button that would let me proceed) and the upgrade took place (without restarting). Along with the upgrade Firefox was also updated to its latest version at the time (119.0). Since then, videos on Twitter play but without sound. On some other websites also none of the videos play. On YouTube, Firefox shows me a message saying "To play video, you may need to install the required video codecs" but the videos play fine; I haven't tried other websites but I assume all would have some issues. Google Chrome however doesn't have this issue and all videos play without any issues.

Note that I have not restarted my computer since the upgrade. I doubt this could be an issue but please let me know if you think this could be the issue.

I did the followings and restarted Firefox but none have worked so far for Twitter and some other random websites that I come across, but they resolved the issue for YouTube and now YouTube videos play, although I still get that codec message at the top of the tab:

Someone told me this is because the default Firefox on Ubuntu 22 comes as a snap package and I should install the APT package manually instead so that it works. I prefer not to do this because I have lots of tabs open and have manually changed lots of the settings (including in about:config) that I want to preserve. I would also like to preserve the history of visited websites and keep the current cookies (don't really want to keep entering username/password on the same websites again). So the best way for me is to fix the issue for the default Firefox on Ubuntu 22.

Could you help me figure out what I should do to fix this issue?

I accidentally hid the menu bar and toolbars (with an accidental keyboard shortcut, I think), and when I re-enabled them, now the tab bar is above the location bar instead of right above the content windows. How do I move it back? I can't find the "browser.tabs.onTop" setting in about:config, or any check box in the View menu, settings, etc.

I'm using Firefox 119.0.1 on Ubuntu Linux.

I'm running Firefox 123.0.1 on Linux Mint 21.2. Something changed after my last update. I visit a number of web sites at which I scroll down a window to a link, click on it to open it, read that link, and then return to the previous page. Examples are news sites like slashdot.org, associated press, or arcamax. Firefox used to return to the place in the original site page where I had clicked on a link. Now, it returns to the top of the original site page, and I have to scroll down again to where I had clicked on a link. I can right click on a link, open a new tab, and then close that tab, but that requires multiple clicks, and I used to just click/click. Is there a way to set up Firefox to go back to the previous behavior? Thanks in advance. ;

Starting recently the firefox popups for website notifications are stealing focus and disturbing my workflow. I'm using i3 window manager and normally popups would have some id or class that can be used to latch on and prevent the focus stealing but the windows created now do not have any such marker.
