Please tell me how to keep the Firefox theme I choose (color and tabs). I'm using a new PC with Windows 11 and did not have this problem on my older computer. Nothing else is a problem -- all extensions are kept, my bookmarks and toolbars are correct, etc. But every time I close the browser, the theme resets to the Windows 11 preset.

Is there an email addon which is available to parse information from email and its attachement? P.ex. I get codes regularly directly in email or in the attachment. How can I extract it to database or excel file?

There seem some websites like parseur, parserr, zapier doing the jobs, but I am looking for an open source tool or free tool. Not for pro use, but for private use. The free plans of the one above are still a bit too low.

I just downloaded firefox, I switched from chrome now that the new anti-adblock update is coming out. As such I'm trying to used to the new browser and set it up to my preferences.

So far I've had some problems, and I'd be thankful for any help I could get.

Firstly, when zoomed in using application menu, the scroll does not adjust the amount scrolled. For example, let's say the standard lines scrolled when i scroll with my mouse is 4. It's still 4 when zoomed in, as if I was still at 100%. This makes it scroll further down than needed, and to a person who likes to read, bothering. I presume there is an solution to this, as this doesn't happen on chrome for me. I tried checking out about:config and change mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_y from 100 to somewhat lower.

This made all scrolling way too slow, even if only slightly lowered. And the amount scrolled normally isn't the problem, the problem is the amount scrolled does not adjust when zoomed in, still scrolling as if I was on 100% zoom instead of 250% zoom.

Second question, is there a way to change the default zoom percentages. Instead of 100-110-120-150 ect... to 100-120-150-175-200-225-250 and so on.

Thirdly does firefox automatically have tabs sleep when not in use to save ram. If not, where would I activate it?

Thank you for any answers, it's very appreciated.

I'm searching for TB102.x functions or add-ons that the discontinued Awesome AutoArchive add-on had offered in the past. However, after more than three years afaik still no add-on or combination of add-ons can achieve this.

The main missing functionality is a recursive email folder *copy* (meaning copy, no move/archive) to local folders - combined with a specific email date/age as filter criterion. While move/archive seems to be well-supported in TB, copying of emails seems to be non-trivial. At least this was the statement of an add-on implementer I've contacted so far.

Going into details: In my setup three distinct TB clients (A, B, C) access the same imap mailbox. Local TB filter rules (identical on A, B, and C) move incoming emails into a complex (sub)folder hierarchy on the imap storage. But the imap folder is running out of space, so some older emails must be relocated to local folders.

Current TB add-ons support archiving of emails to local folders - but this works on only one client! As soon as one of the clients moves the emails to its local archive, the other two can't access them any more - so they can't copy the emails to their local storage. In TB pre-68 the following rules configured with Awesome AutoArchive did the job: TB client A: *copy* emails older than 180 days to local folders (recursive copy, preserving folder structure) TB client B: *copy* emails older than 180 days to local folders (recursive copy, preserving folder structure) TB client C: *move*/archive emails older than 360 days to local folders (recursive, preserving structure)

This strategy made sure that A and B successfully copied the emails to their local folders well before C moved/archived them. And this is what I'd like to achieve somehow with TB 102.x... Obviously it would work, as well if TB client C copies emails older than 180 days to local folders and deletes emails older than 360 days on the imap storage...

Any ideas/hints how to reliably implement this functionality with currently available (and ideally long-term supported) add-ons?

thanks in advance!

I use filters a lot for junk/spam. I have noticed that when opening a pre-existing folder to add new spam addressed to it - the folder is opening up very slowly. If I create a new one it will open up normally but after adding a few addresses to the filter rule it slows down again. This was a problem a year or so ago and then it started working great. I did nothing to the Thunderbird system. I believe it was fixed in a patch.

How do I stop the "snap to grid" function when dragging pictures from the window to the desktop on Mac? whenever I drag a Picture to the desktop, it's like the "snap to grid" option on the computer is on. The pictures won't stack if i drag them to the exact same place. Ive checked every preference option on both the Mac computer and the Firefox settings but there is nothing about disabling it. The "snap to grid" function is disabled on the computer itself and images will stack if dragged from another browser like Chrome. It only does it with Firefox. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Brother HL-L2305W laser printer. It works well except if I want to print anything from TB, like an email or an attachment. If I do that it's printed in reverse, white font on black background. Obviously this is a huge waste of ink, and cartridges ain't cheap. Is there some way I can tell TB to print normally?

Is there a system-indepedent way to reference my current profile directory/folder in userChrome.css? Perhaps a variable, resource, protocol, or something else? Or must I always use the full pathname?

I currently use the following for an image file:

     url("file://C:/Users/markb/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/0kcfwlvm.default/chrome/images/gray_polarity_header.png")

The problem with this is that the full pathname is system-dependent.

I tried the following, because I thought that a relative path was supposed to be relative to the CSS file itself, but it doesn't work.

     url("images/gray_polarity_header.png");
     url("file:images/gray_polarity_header.png");
     url("data:images/gray_polarity_header.png");

I see things like this when I use the Developer Toolbox:

     src="chrome://branding/locale/brand.properties"

I assume "chrome:" here refers to some location on disk or some resource in some file. Is there perhaps something like "profile:" to refer to the user's profile directory?

Thanks

I am running Thunderbird 64-bit v. 102.6.1 under Ubuntu jammy 22.04 with gnome desktop.

Like many others, setting a "Themes" to "Dark" only changes the menu bars and folder lists to a dark background but not email bodies. The way I found to also be able to read emails with a dark background was to go into Edit > Settings > General > "Language & Appearance" section, "Colors" button and setting a dark-colored background and choosing "Always" for "Override the colors specified by the content with my selections above" -- however, this also makes Google calendars that I access via Tbird add-ons like g-hub lite or G Suite to a monochrome color, which makes it very difficult to read the calendars or to know what the current day is. Is there a way around this? That is, be able to set viewing with a dark background (mails, calendars) but not affect color-coding of the different calendars?

Thanks in advance to any tips!

Is there a browser config setting that will force it to open full screen by default. There's a Feb. 19, 2022, question in Support that doesn't provide an answer.

Is it possible to change Firefox's zoom type?

Background info on Firefox zooming capabilities: When I do the pinch-in movement on my laptop's touchpad on Firefox, the window zooms in, as if it had a magnifying glass… (funda kabanzi)

Background info on Firefox zooming capabilities:

When I do the pinch-in movement on my laptop's touchpad on Firefox, the window zooms in, as if it had a magnifying glass. I'll call this the "magnifying zoom".

However, Firefox has 2 other types of zooms. It can zoom only the text (I'll call this "text zoom"), where the CSS property `font-size` is changed for all text, and it can zoom all elements (I'll call this "elements zoom"), where images, video tags etc., all HTML elements are increased in size.

The main difference between these 3 types of zoom I found are that:

- the magnifier zoom doesn't change anything about CSS or the page layout, everything stays exactly as it was, the only difference is that the window is magnified, so everything looks bigger.
- the elements zoom does change the page layout. For example, by increasing the size of HTML elements, it can have the same effect of a media query for a smaller screen size and remove or reorganize column of elements. By changing elements sizes, elements can get reordered around the page. This never happens with the magnifier zoom, where the page remains exactly as it was before, but magnified.
- the text zoom only changes text size, although this can also trigger a change to the page layout if HTML elements get too big.

I'm currently using a bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad, when I pinch-in using this bluetooth touchpad, I get an elements zoom, instead of a magnifier zoom like the one of my laptop's touchpad. I believe the reason is that my bluetooth touchpad is being recognized as a mouse, and using Ctrl+mouse wheel gets an elements zoom.

    1. Question:

Is there a way to force all pinch in movements or all zooms to be only magnifier zooms? I don't want to change the page layout, I only want to magnify a certain part I can't see properly. Is there a way to pick and choose which kind of zoom I'd like to have?

I only found [addons][1] that could let me choose between elements zoom and text zoom, but there's no option for the magnifier zoom.

After migrating from Outlook, there is a mayor feature missing for me: "Quick Steps"

In Outlook a Quick Step is basically multiple actions in one and the user can custom build each Quick Step. In Outlook one can have a bar at the top with multiple user-definded Quick Steps.

An example for a quick step: tag as "urgent" AND tag as "unimportant" AND move to Folder "Receipts". All done on a single click. No drag and drop.

In Thunderbird, I have to mark the email manually twice, and then move it to the respective folder via drag and drop. That is a lot more effort.

Quick Steps is not the same as filters, it is complementary but very different. I also use filters. BUT, Quick Steps is used when it cannot be done automatically, when the user wants to decide manually, but still save on a lot of clicking and mouse movement.

Is there any such add-on in Thunderbird? Any plan to implement such a feature in Thunderbird?
