We downloaded the GPO Templates for AD and looking to customize Firefox.

We would like to disable Forms and Autofill: Autofill addresses Autofill credit cards

Also would like to lock down so they can't reenable if possible.

We would like to do this all through GPOs if possible. I found these in the about:config: extensions.formautofill.addresses.enabled extensions.formautofill.creditCards.enabled

But again want to do through the GPO. Is this possible?

Side note while working on GPOs, I set Exceptions for the popup blocker and they are not showing up in the browser. I also filled out to remove Search Engines but they all still appear in the browsers. These two GPO settings don't appear to be working.

Hello and thank you all in advance for giving your time to help us!

I run Firefox 114.0.1 on an Apple Mac Mini running Monterey 12.6.6.

Under the "Other Bookmarks" heading in the Library, I keep quite a lot of folders dividing my bookmarks into the various subjects they relate to and some of those folders are subdivided into subfolders.

One of my "simple" folders is called "PENDING" where i store stuff to look at when I have time. Last week I noticed that folder was missing! There's no other explanation than I stupidly deleted it without knowing, and it contained a lot of stuff!

I read up on restoring bookmarks from backup but

a) I only need this one folder and b) I don't want to overwrite all the bookmarks I've added in the past weeks.

Even if I could get the bookmarks from that one folder in a plain text file that I could read, I've no problem doing a bit of work, pasting each one into Google and re-acquiring it as a bookmark.

Any advice will be deeply appreciated!

Many thanks and very kind wishes,

Jim

Related to some personal SVG project files. Which are relative large files (containing lots of generated paths and other data).

On the largest of these files I spotted that some general svg-viewer failed with a "XML parse error: cannot load more than 200.000 XML elements" error message.

The same file, when viewed in Firefox (114~, Linux, Mint), also developed some odd hiccup that did not make sense. Unless ...

Is there a similar limitation active in Firefox ?

- I tried to see if "Inspect>Console" gave some potential related message on this. But spotted nothing out of the ordinary. - Searched developer.mozilla.org for any related svg data. But could not find any. - After ditching some data in the effected file, unrelated to the hiccup part, the hiccup disappeared. Suggesting I did hit some svg limit in Firefox. - File size: ~26.5MB. Number of elements: Other than more than 200.000, unknown at this point. (not sure how to count them at this moment either)

I have a local folder (which I created) where I moved spam emails on a daily basis (not all spam emails, just the spam emails in which the sender was trying to scam me). Today it told me that the folder was full and it wouldn't take another piece of mail. After that, I discovered that I couldn't open the folder, or see the contents, or rename it, or delete it. I'm happy to simply delete it, since it only holds spam, but I can't do that.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Firefox Team,

I think it is time for firefox to provide adblock as a default functionality or a feature where user can enable or disable. I see brave browser has that functionality by default. why doesn't firefox offer this aspart of it. Instead of I installing additional application or extension to block ads.

Could you please consider this in the next release?

Thanks,

With the last update I suddenly have the url/search box background and its search results drop down background set to an ugly pink with diagonal lines.

I am visually impaired and now its almost impossible to use firefox because I can't read the text on top of the diagonal colored bands. There doesn't seem to be any settings to turn on or off this appearance.

I will have to switch browsers until this is fixed and I don't want to.

I'm currently using a Hotmail account for email. It's a free account and, as I understand, is now called web-based Outlook or Outlook.com. This is different from the paid desktop version of Outlook. I understand my version of Outlook stores emails in the cloud, not on my local PC.

I've been notified that cloud-based storage for my emails is nearing maximum capacity. One option is to pay for more storage but I'm reluctant to do that. Further, I would like to create copies of my emails, store them on my local PC, and then delete the oldest from Outlook. That frees up cloud-based storage AND lets me preserve the emails on my own hardware. After MANY chats with forum volunteers knowledgeable about Outlook, I've learned that only the desktop version of Outlook has the ability to export folders of emails to my local PC for archiving. Also, those emails would only be viewable using desktop Outlook. In all cases, the volunteers also suggested Thunderbird as a method for archiving my emails. That's why I'm here.

I've checked through as many old posts as possible but would still like a bit of encouragement before downloading and using Thunderbird. Here are my very basic questions:

1. Will Thunderbird allow me to access and download email folders from my web-based Outlook program? 2. Once the emails are safely on my local PC, what software will I need to open and read the messages? My current mail program (Outlook)? Thunderbird? Something else? 3. As I understand it, my version of Outlook stores messages in Folders, as opposed to Gmail which uses labels. Will I be able to preserve my Folders in the archiving process or do all archived emails go into one large folder? By the way, I'm not looking for automatic archiving; I'd be happy to archive manually once per year.

Many thanks in advance. I look forward to giving Thunderbird a try.

Dick

While I can click on the extensions button circled in the screenshot to access them, I can't move those extensions to the toolbar directly. When I search for this issue online, everyone says to use the customize firefox menu to add what I want, but as you can see in the picture - no extensions are listed there, although they are installed and functioning. Very weird because my other install, which is up to date, has this set as default and it has been forever. I'm bewildered. Any suggestions? Thanks

I am distressed. I've used Thunderbird for years and had to create a new version of my IMAP account using EXCHANGE. I did that. I know it was successful because the EXCHANGE account showed up in Thunderbird and I then spent days transferring emails from the old IMAP account personal email folders into duplicate folders in the new EXCHANGE account.

Then today I closed my browser. When I re-opened Thunderbird, the new EXCHANGE account was absent. Since I can't use the old IMAP account any more, I tried again to create an EXCHANGE account. When I tried to do that, I got a message that "the server already exists" (see image below) and I am unable to complete the task.

So the previously created EXCHANGE account has disappeared, with all my emails in it, I can't create a new one, and the IMAP no longer works (and won't accept my password to send or receive). I feel completely stuck and I've lost several years of emails.

The fact that the message said that the server already exists makes me think and hope that my EXCHANGE account still exists somewhere. Can you help me find it? Many thanks in advance. Steve

Version: 102.12.0

FYI, the buttons / options that i refer to might be named slightly differently, as i'm using dutch language for my interface.

Summary The enter password dialog is not showing up when sending an email over SMTP, when the password previously was added to the password manager, but has been deleted since.

What happend

  1. I've had a working account to an IMAP and SMTP server (both same subdomain, same password, diffrent ports).
  2. the password was stored in the password manager.
  3. the subdomain and port of the SMTP server needed to change, and i update the subdomain and port in account settings > outgoing server (SMTP) > Edit SMTP server. The new subdomain for SMTP was not known yet by the password manager.
  4. on sending the next email through SMTP, i was prompted for the new password, with the "store in password manager" checkbox unchecked.
  5. I entered the wrong password (LDAP instead of email) and checked "store in password manager", then continued the email send process.
  6. this led to an error sending the email.
  7. I checked online how to change the password and found https://smallbusiness.chron.com/reset-password-thunderbird-48064.html , which advised me to delete the password from the password manager.
  8. I deleted the password, closed the password manager dialog and restarted thunderbird as per the previous link.
  9. I pressed get messages without getting prompted for the SMTP server password, which is expected as the IMAP is still using the old subdomain with the stored password.
  10. when re-sending the email that i have in my draft / concept folder, i was not prompted to enter the password for the new SMTP subdomain, even though i removed it from the password manager.
  11. sending timed out with error about failed to send the email, because connecting to the outgoing SMTP server failed. with the added hint that perhaps the server is not available or refusing SMTP connections. However, the connection does not have a password to connect with stored, and other people are able to connect to the new SMTP subdomain and send emails.

What have i tried

  • Troubleshooting Mode
  • Clear startup cache
  • restart thunderbird
  • reboot laptop

I've checked https://support.mozilla.org/eu/questions/1245702, but this did not help my situation and can't find anything else that matches my issue.

Can you please help me with how I can either manually add the password for the subdomain (the subdomain is no longer in the password manager), or trigger the SMTP add password dialog?

Hi,

I've been encountering a strange issue where colors (especially whites) in the video player are super washed out. This only happens when HDR is turned on in windows, and only happens in my Firefox Developer Edition installation (normal firefox works fine). It also doesn't show up in any windows screenshots - the colors revert to normal when I'm in the screenshot GUI. I've attached photos below of a youtube video, the left is firefox DE and right is normal firefox, both in and out of the screenshot GUI so you can see the difference.

I'm on Windows 11, and I'm not sure what caused the issue. I've tried both refreshing and reinstalling firefox DE to no avail. Pretty stumped on this one, and would appreciate any help!
