Using Thunderbird 115.6.0 (64-bit) in Linux Mint MATE 21.3.

Settings|General|"Save files to is" not selected ("Always ask me where to save files" is.) "Desktop" is shown, greyed out.

Note that Settings|General, for Content Types mentioning PDF, the setting is to use Document Viewer (xreader).

Process:

1) Create new e-mail. 2) Add PDF attachment. 3) Double click on the attachment to view.

It opens in Firefox Web browser, instead of in the system's default Document Viewer.

This also creates an empty <random>.html.part file in the Desktop.

Note that viewing a PDF attachment in an incoming e-mail works fine.

It seems there are two problems: The PDF does not open in the Document Viewer, and an empty file is left behind.

The process used to work quite some time ago (many months, anyway) - not sure when.

Any ideas?

Not sure why the computer will delete several sentences when trying to add a word or coma to the sentence. At times whole paragraphs have disappeared. Please help because we have lost important information.

When you switch the language in a text field, the focus on that text field is lost and the focus goes to another browser tab. This only happens if at this time a video is playing in mozilla in picture in picture mode with the Always on top option enabled. How to fix it? (Ubuntu 22.04)

Twice withing the past 4/5 days I have (purely by chance) noticed an email - for which I had been waiting - on the list of five messages. (bottom right corner) waiting to be added to my inbox. When I went to read the messages only four new ones were there - the one I was waiting for, seen on the 'about to be downloaded' list - was missing. My wife informed me that she had experience a similar problem, eventually solved by locating the email furthe back in history, now attached to another email, and identified by some unexplained arrows. I went in search of similar arrows and found my missing email now attached to an earlier title.

What on earth is the purpose of this? If I hadn't spotted the email as I did and as it didn't appear as a recent addition in the inbox, I could not have known it had been sent to me. After the glimpse l'd had of if I emailed the sender to check that he'd sent it. He was puzzled as to why I hadn't replied.

I'm a long way from being an expert - scarcely competent in fact - in computing matters, but I am capable of filing my own mail. Please can Thunderbird leave it to me in future?

HTML5 video is becoming very choppy as soon as audio is enabled. The playback is fine before that. Tested across multiple websites.

I have the same problem https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1421734 it's not a pdf. If I want to print a shipping label from eBay using Firefox nothing happens if I try to make it bigger. I can make it smaller but it is too small to begin with. If I use Brave or Edge (using the same printer) it works I can adjust it and make it bigger up to 200 %. I have already reset the printer options in Firefox and tried when disabling all add-ons.

Hi I have been using Firefox for the longest time and never had any issues, recently whenever I try to open the browser it crashes, I am currently using an early 2011 MacBook Pro, funny thing is all the browsers are crashing apart from the crappy safari. Is my hardware too old?

This happened both on my old install of macOS Ventura as well as a clean fresh install of macOS Sonoma: When I open Thunderbird, it beachballs (is unresponsive, shows macOS beachball, fan ramps up) for anywhere between 5-25 seconds. This only happens when an account is set up, if I delete the account, Thunderbird starts quickly again. This happens with accounts from different providers.

Firefox is frequently deleting entries made on websites. I am entering information in boxes (like this one) on websites when suddenly FF bails out, the data vanishes off the screen and leaves me back where I started. It happened several times attempting to post this question. This seems to have something to do with hitting a key or the space bar--but what and why eludes me. I have tried changing settings on trackpad and mouse without any impact. Although this is a recent issue with a new computer, the issue does not occur using the same computer on Chrome. Any ideas?

Videos will immediately start playing upon loading a page, even with Firefox set to 'block audio and video'. This happens on YouTube and Reddit.

Autoplay blocking only works if the page is opened in a new tab.

Relatively clean install of Windows 11 (~<2 months), clean install of Firefox (~<2 weeks) after experiencing crashes in a different Chromium-based browser. Was running 4x48GB mem sticks but reduced to two for troubleshooting purposes, ran memtest in its entirety with zero failures. Not able to reproduce crashes in benchmarking software.

Consistently crashing throughout the day, sometimes back to back.

Are there any reports of erased history lately? Perhaps since v122.01? I had history that goes way back.

I few of my profiles have a month's worth I don't sync. I have these two profiles in particular that are quite distinct from one another. Nothing in common, but both only have history for the past two days. None of my related settings have been altered.

I tried replacing places.sqlite from backups, but unless they were backed up that way, it did not help.

Al abrir Thunderbird, se han ido borrando todos los mensajes de la bandeja de entrada de todas las cuentas, durante unos segundos, hasta quedar vacías todas esas carpetas. Afortunadamente, los mensajes borrados estaban en la papelera de cada cuenta IMAP.
