For about a year I have, several times, tried to use a link or a pop up that doesn't work in Firefox but can be accomplished in Safari. Today, I used a credit card to pay for something on the UFT.org website. It worked. I needed to make another purchase on the same website and page but I got a message that there was an error with my credit card info. I tried again. I tried another credit card. I signed out and back in and repeated everything and still got the same message. I copied the url, went to Safari, pasted the url, entered my info and was successful in making the payment. I am using Firefox 133.0.3. What might be happening to cause these problems?

I have blocked all websites from accessing my geolocation by default in the privacy settings and there are no exceptions on the list.

And yet,

1) many websites I visit seem to have my geolocation, even though I have never shared any information with them

2) the last two suggestions on the first page when I search for anything are always linked to my location

How is this possible? How do I fix it?

Thank you

I have always had them setup. And I would expect a prompt when my computer had been shut down, or OS/FF had updated - seems normal. As of a couple weeks maybe months ago, I'm being asked for it what feels like constantly. In fact, It just asked me twice back to back withing the same session/tab/interaction with Passwords. That feels like a lot, esp if you actually have longer and more complex pwds than 90% of us. (And me sometimes, not claiming to be a pw angel or anything lol). But personally, Mozz/FF passwords fall into the top tier of my brains security hierarchy, along with my Apple Account, private keys, device encryption, MFA recovery, etc...things you'd generally be sure to incorporate best practices with and really don't wanna forget or lose. I don't really love the idea of turning it off, buuuut getting a bit grumpy about being pestered all day from Firefox.

So bug? Updated policy? I just woke up form a Coma and simply don't recall 2024? Hopefully not the third one.

On an M4 Max running Sequoia Version 15.2 (24C101) using FIrefox 136.0.1 at the moment, but have noticed the same on a Yoga/Windows 11, iPhone, M1 Macbook Pro.

Privacy/Security is set to Strict. No sus permissions I can see. HTTPS only. DNS over Cloudflare (Default Protection). No exceptions of any type granted. Aside from Mozilla (for Extensions), and Google (for Popups).

Thanks yall.

Oh (and I should prob open a proper ticket but while) but I'm here, and I just noticed the line about "On macOS, some background tabs will be moved to lower power cores, reducing energy usage." from a recent Firefox update brief. I've been having a rough time lately on this M4 Max - 16 cores, 64GB mem with tabs freezing up the whole browser, every window. Sometimes the whole OS. Not specific to any certain site, and has happened with 1 windows and 3 tabs open just as often as 4 windows with 40 tabs open. And usually I cant even get to Activity Monitor at that point to see if it looks like a memory leak, or whatever. And if I can get it to shut down (the browser), it will get into this loop where it just loads back up all the same windows, and that same particular tab will lockup again as soon as I click on it. And it takes foreevvvver to load back up even when I don't interact with the browser aside from CMD-Tabbing tf out of there. Tbh I'd prefer FF to launch clean after being told to shut down. Always have the option to load recent windows anyway....

^ aaand then saw the blatantly obvious checkbox to turn off reload on start my bad. 😅

Sorry last thing - what exactly does "We've made some educated guesses about your current browser and operating system." mean? Yeah that sounds straightforward, and I would expect that from most websites? I think? I know you want to be transparent, but that phrasing sounds weirdly aggressive lol

Dear Mozilla support,

I represent a company that is providing a SaaS-service, in said service our marketing teams wants to implement thirdparty scripts, but we need to make sure that those scripts don't have access to the DOM to ensure the confidentiality of the information in the service.

What I've found out so far is that fenced frames seems to be a good way to solve this, see the following https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/fencedframe.

However the implementation for this element is still lacking in firefox, so i'm wondering if it will be implemented and when if so. We know that the feature is still experimental but it's something we would like to test and see if it's the way forward for our thirdparty scripts.

Is it possible that every single add-on I had has been simultaneously disabled because it is "corrupt" or the sign-on could not be verified? Is it due to my old operating system (El Capitan)? If that's the case, I will have to stop using Firefox on my old iMac and use it on my MacBook Air, a device I really don't like because of the keyboard.

bold textno connection to youtube, thunderbird, firefox AND MY ROUTER! microsoft edge works.

Software is Preventing Firefox From Safely Connecting to This Site

news.google.com is most likely a safe site, but a secure connection could not be established. This issue is caused by Private Internet Access, which is either software on your computer or your network.

What can you do about it?

news.google.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

If your antivirus software includes a feature that scans encrypted connections (often called “web scanning” or “https scanning”), you can disable that feature. If that doesn’t work, you can remove and reinstall the antivirus software.
If you are on a corporate network, you can contact your IT department.
If you are not familiar with Private Internet Access, then this could be an attack, and there is nothing you can do to access the site.

Recently I have started to see Thunderbird trying to insert passwords or Yubi key codes in the body of messages without my initiating that. I sent a message this morning and I deleted the codes, but T-Bird started re-inserting them.

Any idea what can cause this behaviour?

I wonder if thunderbird (plus addons?) could help fight phishing in the following way. Say I need to check the authenticity of emails I get from Bob. Is there a way to

1) Get Bob to create digital signature (PGP?) and send it to me ahead of time in secure channel; I store this signature locally (on thunderbird?)

2) Bob sends me an email, with this signature

3) Upon receiving this email, thunderbird automatically verifies the signature against the locally saved one and confirms that the signature is correct

Note: I am looking for automatic verification of message/sender, NOT encryption.

If this can be done, do Bob also needs to use thunderbird (plus addons?), or is there a standard protocol for this (e.g. can this be done via gmail webinterface, outlook, etc?)

THANKS!

p.s. For (1), Bob can e.g. posts his signature on his webpage as well. But my main question is about (3).

Hello

I am looking for a way to disable the QUIC protocol in Firefox by GPO. I got your latest AMDX templates but I don't see the option to modify network.http.http3.enabled.

Either an AMDX template with this option or a Registry will do the trick

Thanks

Greetings Firefox Support/CommunityL

While reconnecting one of my computers to my Firefox account I saw at the top of the Settings Page: "Your settings are being managed by your organization". Problem is that I don't belong to any organizations or enterprises having anything to do with my online life. I have been hacked in the past and am paranoid when I see something that doesn't make sense. When I click on the link (trusting that it is indeed from you), it takes me to your Enterprise Policy page showing the following:

Active Policy Name Policy Value

DNSOverHTTPS Enabled false Locked true

I always use secure DNS (DOH or DOT) on everything - network adapters, routers (except the ISP one whose default I can't figure out to circumvent) etc. but on the browser setting pages I am only given the option of having it off: the default, increased, and max protection options are greyed out and cannot be chosen. I guess that explains the policy values but who locked it? My only guess is that is use a Surfshark VPN and realize that in so doing I am using Surfshark's DNS servers but I believe I had this problem before using the VPN. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.
