I'm running the latest version of Thunderbird 140.12.1esr on 15.7.7 (24G720) on an M1 processor.

I'm witnessing Memory leak > Thunderbird who usually use 800MB jumps to Gb up to 60Gb

It makes this version unusable.

I have two Tbird accounts pmcreativeservices@rcn.com has been mine for 20 years, and it's what I use for bills, banking, etc. The other account is PatriciaRosemoor@rcn.com and is only used to collect messages that come from my author website. Yesterday, I got a message from someone who tried but couldn't put a book up at Amazon and asked if there was something I could do about it. My trying to send her a message via the PatriciaRosemoor account is what started requests for my Primary Password. One a minute after I cancelled the last one. I tried the two passwords I knew I had, but neither worked. I got a request for a new password so I did that and it didn't work either. I kept going back to it all day yesterday uselessly. I found directions of what to do online, but it didn't match up with my Settings information. Please, if you can tell me how to fix this, I would be grateful. Or, if I can keep the thousands of emails I probably have, I could try deleting the account and recreating the account. The problem would be how to bring all my saved emails back. All of a sudden every time I open something in an email it automatically creates a new tab. When I delete what I have open it takes me out of my email account and I have to delete the tab to get back to my remaining emails. I have changed nothing so I am confused as to why it has recently changed.

Thunderbird 140.7.1 i have a subfolder called "purchases" which I add to on a regular basis. Suddenly no messages appear after May 2014 I have logged in directly to the mail server, and all the missing messages are definitely on the server. I have checked the local filters, none are set. I have tried properties/repair. I have tried removing ~/.thunderbird/xxx/ImapMail/mail.myserver.com.au/INBOX.sbd/purchases.msf

Could it be a problem with dovecot indexing on the server? all the other subfolders seem to work fine. It's just this one.

Hi , I am using the MacBook Pro M5 which is running with macOS Tahoe 26.5 . I have installed Thunderbird mail with version 150.0.2 . After the initial installation with only one account with few mails in the inbox I found the App opening time is abnormally high & is more than 1 minutes . I have removed the mail App few times & re installed it ( even I have re download the app from net again) , but the problem remain same .

I have removed the old folder & files from - ~/Library/Thunderbird/ , ~/Library/Application Support/Thunderbird/ , ~/Library/Caches/Thunderbird/ , org.mozilla.thunderbird from ~/Library/Preferences/. before the re installation & re started the laptop , but no improvement in results .

Also in mail setting references → Unchecked the option - Enable Global Search and Indexer Disable all Extensions and Themes under Tools → Add‑ons & Themes (No Extensions is installed) .

Just to inform that the apple mail is working fine in this laptop .

After all the above trails the results are same , the app once quit & re start - it takes around 1.5 minutes to open after which the app works normally with out any problem . Please suggest if any solution is available for this problem . Best Regards Gautam Banerjee

TB suddenly moves messages from inbox to trash automatically without any interaction. Search through the forrum shows that it has been asked for already, see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1588804, similar postings can also be found with you search engine.

As described in other postings, the messages are moved from Inbox to trash. When moving them back manually from trash to inbox, they are moved to trash again immediately.

• it happens for the default account only,
• there're no filters at all in TB,
• junk detection is disabled,
• Settings->General Storage is all disabled,
• (account)->Settings->Server Settings has checked "move deleted messages to trash",
• (account)->Settings->Storage is all disabled,
• Inbox->Properties "Repair folder" does not help,
• Inbox->Properties "rules is set to "use account settings" (and greyd out "do not delete messages"),
• exactly same behaviour when starting TB in save mode,
• manually deleting all *.msf files (for inbox) does not help,
• manually deleting xulstore.json does not help,

Additional notes, which are not related to the problem, IMHO:

• IMAP on port 993,
• no other clients anywhere are connected to that account,
• TB configured for more than 10 accounts, more than 500 folders and sub-folders,
• host with > 16GB RAM, TB uses 3GB virt,
• problem observerd in older TB also, at least 13x.x

I'd be happy to debug/trace the problem if someone can give me detailled insructions how to start TB with debugging. Please feel free to ask for about:config settings as they are non-ambiguous and language independent ;-)

Sometime in the last week or two, every page starts with a banner that says "you must sign in to the internet to continue". I'm already/always signed in. On those few occasions when I click on the network login link (rather than clicking X to dismiss this dangerous and wrong banner), it shows a very dangerous site and says that site is prohibited. (As it should be.) So why is the banner demanding that I log in (forcing me to click X to dismiss it)? This feels like your site has been compromised, that some malicious actor is forcing this prompt on every page. (And even after I click X to dismiss it, it reappears 10-15 minutes later.

Why when I search ABOUT:BLANK TAB, an empty page displays instead of the site I am searching for? I then have to go back and try again and again until it finally displays.

Cleared Cache, searched for extensions and not sure what to look for...they were verified by apple to be "normal". What else? Macbook Air 2023 running Sonoma 14.8.1

Hi this can anyone shed anylight on this please? I was using Facebook earlier today with no problem then now it won't run nor open yet it runs fine in Google Chrome. I've cleared out the Cookies ect and re-tried but its not pitching anything.

Every time I log into MOZILLA_FIREFOX it asks to update. I have tried this before. I usually just hit that NO button...When I do click on the YES button & try to update...IT WIPES OUT EVERYTHING I HAVE STORED ON FIREFOX. EVERY SINGLE PASSWORD...SHOPPING LISTS...I'm done! I now once again have to go and recover all my information. Thing is....it updates automatically........so WTH is going on? I will start looking for aother browser...is this a scam or what?

The Mozilla help page says they appear on a new start page. I don't see them. I'm also not clear what they are (other than there is a clock or timer or calendar as one of them).

When I select a line of text, normally it would get deleted/overwritten when typing a new line of text, but when I select text in Firefox and begin typing again, it simply deletes the first word in the selection and keeps the rest. Is there a setting to have ALL text selected deleted/overwritten when new text is entered? Selecting one word overwrites the whole word but when an entire line to be deleted is selected, only the first word is deleted and typing begins where that word ends.

Hello, I am using Firefox on my phone to open Facebook. When I try to upload my ID to recover my suspended Facebook account, I get an error "Something went wrong".
