Hello Thunderbird users!

Today my father lost all the sub folders below the folder Archives. Doe anybody know how to get them back?

I tried the following:

The strange thing is I also don't see any .sbd or .msf files, with one of the names he mentions, under the directory Mail (in the profile directory). How can they suddenly disappear or be deleted?

If someone knows how to get the folders (with the e-mails) back, that would be very much appreciated!

Hey folks, I've been noticing something peculiar with Firefox that's been bothering me lately. Whenever I try to watch videos on YouTube in resolutions above 1080p, they tend to randomly buffer. It's quite frustrating, especially when I know my internet connection is stable and other browsers don't seem to have this issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem with Firefox? And if so, do you have any tips or solutions to share? Thanks in advance for any insights!

When photos, videos, or websites are linked on a FB comment, it used to display a thumbnail preview below the comment. Now it just shows the link. On mobile, the preview appears. So I'm thinking a setting got changed on the desktop version.

Does anyone know what the issue is and how to correct?

Hi, After using Thunderbird for years without problems, I ran into a serious one now (since a few days). When starting Thunderbird it comes up with three almost empty windows, one over the other. No data is filled in and when clicking on the window it says in the upper left corner: Starting page - Modzilla Thunderbird (no response) / (actually in German) Startseite - Modzilla Thunderbird (Keine Rückmeldung). The small login popup is also seen in the window but doesn't accept any typing and shows also 'Keine Rückmeldung / no response'. I can only stop the process on Windows level. I would be very grateful if you could help me with this issue. I cannot get to my emails anymore. Many thanks Holger

Is there some setting on the latest Firefox that needs to be adjusted? The articles I've read don't help. Thanks.

Hi All,

I'm trying to set the border color for my url & search bars to gray when non-focused, and blue when receiving the focus.

The following code works for the search bar, but the url bar is receiving a separate blue border around the gray border, instead of changing the color from gray to blue.

Can someone suggest how I might set the url bar to blue (just a single border, not the double it has now), both when it has focus and when it's expanded?

Thank you!

/* set non-focused url & search bars to gray border */
#urlbar > #urlbar-background, #urlbar[breakout][breakout-extend] > #urlbar-background, #searchbar { border: 1px solid #a1a6b5 !important; outline: none !important; border-radius: 0px !important; }
/* set focused search bar to blue border */
#urlbar-background, #urlbar[breakout][breakout-extend] > #urlbar-background:focus-within, #searchbar:focus-within { border: 1px solid #0078d7 !important; }
/* set focused url bar to blue border */
#urlbar-background, #urlbar[breakout][breakout-extend] > #urlbar-background:focus-within, #urlbar:focus-within { border: 1px solid #0078d7 !important; }

Hi Everyone!

I am currently on Thunderbird 115.10.1 (64-bit) and for a few days now, I can't open the calendar tab. The "Today Pane" is working and showing events though.

When going to "View" the items "Calendar" and "Tasks" are greyed out though.

Any idea on how to get the calendar back? The company will move us all to Exchange and Outlook soon, so I thought I might "survive", but it is pretty impractical have to open my calendars separately in the browser. You only notice how often you use something, when you don't have it. ;-)

Hello folks,

I use an email provider with a web interface in my daily business. For backup purposes, I start Thunderbird every few days and download all emails from this account to my local Thunderbird profile via IMAP (and regularly back up this profile to a separate hard disk).

Due to a size limitation of my online mailbox, I would now like to archive old emails and thus remove them from the online mailbox.

What I want to achieve:

  1. Once archived emails should disappear from the online mailbox.
  2. Emails from the last two years should still be accessible online.
  3. The existing folder structure should be retained.
  4. Access to emails within the archive via Thunderbird must be ensured.
  5. I need to be able to back up the local profile / archive to an external hard disk via copy&paste.

I have installed the Thunderbird extension "AutoarchiveReloaded" for this purpose and now need some help in sorting my thoughts and later setting up the archiving.

  1. To ensure that the emails are deleted from the online mailbox after archiving, I set the Thunderbird option "mail.imap.expunge_after_delete" to true.
  2. In the Thunderbird account, I set the option "[x] Keep messages archives in > Archives Folder > Local Folder".
  3. I also set the "Archive options..." to "Yearly archived folders" and "[x] Keep existing folder structure of archived messages".
  4. I set the AutorarchiveReloaded limits as requested (i.e. 730 days)
  5. I can still save the local mailbox (with the archived emails) by copying the Thunderbird profile (currently '/home/ElBarto/.thunderbird/1d4ztbb9.default-release/') as the "Local Directory" below "Local Folders" is the same path and is only supplemented by the subdirectory 'Local'.
  6. And most importantly: data loss due to archiving must be avoided at all costs. I am talking here about 20 years of email history, which I have moved securely and completely with every email provider move so far.

Does it all work like this or have I made a mistake somewhere?

Thank you very much for your support and have a nice Sunday!

May I first say that trying to get hold of you to make this report was painful, and took about 20 minutes and a long walk around Mozilla's assorted website, opening two accounts, etc.

I received a notice while using Firefox on PC that an update was available. I was going to put it off, as I had 25 tabs open, but the notice indicated that my open tabs would be restored once the update was complete, so I approved the update. It download and I assume installed the update, seemed to temporarily close Firefox, and then reopened the original page with all my open tabs, plus an empty page. When I tried to open the tabs shown, they all indicated that the tab had crashed and then gave me the option of restoring that tab or on some restoring all tabs. Neither worked, in fact, that Firefox page became completely unresponsive and would not allow me to browse new urls (the tabs just spun). I actually had to use MS Edge to get to anywhere to seek out someplace to make a report. I first went to the discussion group and opened up an account there, but from there noticed that feedback on Firefox was at a different url. I then needed to create an account "here". Since nothing was working, I closed and reopened the Firefox page with all the tabs on it, figuring maybe it would restore the crashed tabs. It did not and all tabs were lost. I can probably get back to some of them using the history archive, but it was very disappointing and will be even more time consuming. I am running the current version of Win 10 pro, 64 bit, on a PC. I thought you would want to know about this. Thank you for your time.

I have used firefox for years as my browser with my home page set to google. I have always had a bookmarks toolbar but never a bookmarks side bar and do not want one. ATT made me change my email password which restored my access to email on yahoo. Thunderbird isn't accepting the new password. (It did open to show my emails going back to 4/17/2023 after I entered the new password.) I get a message that log in to server failed. Then a window opens to enter new password. Already entered the new (correct) password that works on yahoo. How do I get Thunderbird to work again?

Starting a couple of weeks ago, I began noticing that occasionally (every 2-3 days usually), a few empty files appear in my c:\ folder (Windows 10, as up-to-date as Windows ever is). They have names like "wal3A7109C6" (no file extension). Usually 4-5 will be generated at the same time (ie, same timestamp, so within the same second).

When I first noticed them, I (nervously) deleted a batch with no apparent consequences - but I had to activate Administrator privileges to get rid of them. I ran virus scans but have seen nothing unusual.

A few minutes ago, I had Firefox open but minimized to the task bar. I also happened to have c:\ open in a Window I could see. As I tapped to expand the browser, another of the files appeared, and the browser window behaved oddly for a moment, as though about to crash. The last few versions - I'm at 125.0.3 (64 bit) - have been crashing more than I'm accustomed to, but this is the first time I'd considered the browser to be a likely suspect.

Does anyone have any clues/possibilities to offer? It would be much appreciated.

Am using 115.10.1 Thunderbird on Windows 10. This email account inbox shows one unread message, but I can't find any unread message. Toggled message threads to see if a previous message was unread, but could not find any there either. Have both closed Thunderbird and restarted the computer, but it made no difference. It is bothersome, but my main concern is whether this is indicating some virus or other hack of my computer. This is just a home computer, not on a business network. Do have it on wi-fi. Is it just a matter of somehow resetting the unread message indicator or is it a sign of something more serious?

My Yahoo IMAP account in Thunderbird no longer has any email showing in the Sent folder. There's plenty of mail in Yahoo Sent mail in the browser, but it's not finding its way into Thunderbird. I tried the Repair option, but I just get a typical message that I often see for Yahoo:

"The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account Yahoo responded: [SERVERBUG] UID FETCH Server error - Please try again later."

The Yahoo account shows Sent mail in my iPhone. The Thunderbird Sent folder was seeing messages as recently as last week, so this seems to be a new problem, and I don't know if it's something that I did wrong by mistake. Thanks for any help.

Any idea why the menu code I'm using below to reduce padding in menu items is only affecting Firefox in Windows 10, but not in Windows 7?

Please see attached images.

It's a very strange anomaly. This is true for both FF 125 and FF 115 ESR.

Thanks to all who respond.
