My "recovery.jsonlz4" file from a previous install will not reopen my previous session (tabs) after the new installation.

Before deleting my previous installation of Firefox (for a clean install), I did two things: I created a restore point, and I did a backup of my old data.

The data consists of: bookmarks-2024-05-10.json

These folders: C:\Users\[machinename]\AppData\Local C:\Users\[machinename]\AppData\Roaming C:\Computer Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution C:\Program Data\Mozilla-1de4eexxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

Within "Roaming" I have Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release\sessionstore-backups

In that sessionstore-backup, I have a "recovery.baklz4" (most recent session, I'm guessing) and three others that look like "upgrade.jsonlz4-2024xxxxxxxxxxx

With Firefox closed, I took a copy of "recovery.baklz4" (745 KB) and pasted it into the current sessionstore-backups file, then I changed the file to "recovery.jsonlz4".

I thought that when I reopened Firefox, my previous tabs would appear. They didn't. So, I went to the menu, then to History, and clicked on Recover Previous Session. That didn't do anything either. And it reduced the size of the *.jsonlz4 file from 745 KB to 6 KB.

I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Can you help me out?

Why does the app force me into a new tab every time I leave the app and come back!?! Even for a moment. It’s messed up two things I’ve been working on now. How do I set it to behave like a normal browser and open to the page I was on when I left..?

I enter my search data or search item description into the Firefox window central to the screen, the input word and following description immediately jumps to the URL bar. How can I stop this annoying operation

No sure if this is the right topic. When I search something and go to the tab section, all the news sources are redirected from MSN. I don't want to see MSN holding the article from a legit news source, I want to click the news article it comes from. I hate MSN, I just want to access the news from the original sources. How do I fix it so I get news sources that originally hold the articles?

This is such an irritation I will be forced to find a new search engine if this is not fixable.

Any help would be appreciated-- especially if you are able to walk me through the steps or provide me a link to a specific source as I don't know much about settings etc.

On my old macbook pro, when I opened Firefox recommended Pocket articles appeared automatically on each tab I opened. This is not happening on my new macbook air. How can I enable this?

i had some problems with windows services and firewall and network. i installed the tool from tweaking.com( i don't know if it is legit or scam or virus or anything. would appreciate clarification.) after i repaired windows with it some of my apps including firefox did not start and were corrupted. after that i wanted to reinstall firefox and used the helper.exe from the uninstall folder in mozilla firefox folder in drive C. it restarted firefox and all my tabs were gone. i accessed the jason files (recovery,restore,...) and none of them had my tabs. i signed in to my account and all my history and bookmarks are still here but about 100 tabs were lost. i really need those tabs and i am in desperate need for help. thanks ( in no parts of system repair or other actions i have not created a back up and do not have that back up or system restore files)

I use google as my default firefox home page on my HP laptop. recently a second tab opens at the same time. "how to set the home page" --I've tried closing it and restarting the laptop, but it continues to pop up every time I open firefox as a 2nd tab. I am/was happy with my homepage opening to google. just lost several hundred tabs on Firefox mobile right after it updated itself. The most recent tabs show only ten of those tabs, which were all opened and closed today and aren't part of what I need to restore.

How do I get my tabs back? I've seen no 'restore previous session' option. My laptop only shows the few I have open now. What do I do to restore them?

When opening a new website when a window is already opened I want Mozilla to add a tab and not create an entirely new window. How do I change this feature which presumably is in "settings".

New tab opens to blank page and not my home page, which is Google. I have been to setting and went to the drop down box for tab settings but it only gives me an option to make firefox my home page or a blank page. I want Google to be what appears in my new tab when I click on the little + isgn.

Where are all the tabs for the research I was working on? I stepped out of my office for a few minutes and returned to a very proud message declaring that Firefox had auto updated and now better than ever. Only all my tabs are gone. I just migrated to iMac 2019 27" with Venture OS from imac with Yosamanite. Firefox looked weird with TINY tabs and search window, Too much space. I've tried updating and restarting Mac but no change. Same with themes. You can see the screen with open Firefox.

I've set up a second profile to keep my personal and work browsing separate. When I reopen my non-default profile, it doesn't restore the previous session's tabs. I have "open previous windows and tabs" checked under Settings > General > startup in both profiles. Please advise.

How to disbale most visited websites get automatically added in homepage of Firefox android browser ?

I kept shortcuts option enabled to add shortcut manually as per user choice. I don't want browser to add most recently visited websites to get add as shortcuts in tile form in homepage of firebox browser.

Is there any config to disabled for this issue ? Please help
