Remembering current page between iPhone iOS sessions

I have been using Firefox for iPhone for several years. I have a habit of leaving a bunch of different pages open to look at later, but usually the “last” of them is my “current” page, usually a DuckDuckGo search. I leave that “up” when exiting the app, but suddenly now reopening the app blasts me about 10 miles into an old page that I’m NOT ready to peruse again, instead of my current DuckDuckGo page where I left it. Why?
