Using Firefox 71.0 (and previous), my bookmarks stored in folders on the Bookmarks Toolbar open up on another ddisplay than where Firefox is. I have to go to the opened meny on the other screen and select the bookmark there. This problem came with a resent update, but has been working nicely for several years before that.

Hello. In my bookmarks library I have a lot of folders organized in a tree with multiple branches themselves organized in hierarchic levels. Sometimes I don't find the bookmark I want to use by browsing my tree, probably because I didn't put it in the right location in the tree. I can find it by the "Search bookmarks" function but this function doesn't provide the bookmark location in the tree (and I don't see any other way to locate it). Thus I can't correct the bookmark location error in the tree.
Is there a way to locate a bookmark in library folders tree ?

But that person might be going howdy-rowdy trying to find a bookmark in his/her own browser's folders (don't ask me how I know).

Hi, i am a Firefox lover. I have been using Firefox for about 3 years. But have one things that i really hate in Firefox, that is bookmark bar in Firefox not disappear automatic when you are not in Newtab. My screen is quiet small (13 inch) so it's quiet anoy when the bookmark bar take a small space of the interface. I just wonder that why Firefox don't make it like Chrome?
I tried a way, which is using custom userChrome.css but it's animation is not smooth.
I really love Firefox and i hope that you will make it become more convenient for users.

How do I get Firefox to recognize my favorites directory that is on the hard drive? When I opened Firefox yesterday, a couple of my folders were in the wrong places on the sidebar. I thought maybe I'd moved them the night before when I was very tired, or maybe that they'd accidentally gotten moved when I tried to move something else during a short period of lag. This morning, however, I opened Firefox and found that there were even more mixed up bookmarks. I can figure out where they go and move them back, but this would be a real pain if it happened every day. Can anyone help?

I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. No bookmarks. I did a Revo Uninstall and cleared the registry. No bookmarks. I deleted the localstore.rdf. No bookmarks. This is kinda a deal breaker for me. I'm about to change Linux distribution and have around 20 thousand links (according to Library and Search). Most of those links are in category folders and sub folders and stuff gets routinely deleted when not needed, entire categories are often deleted when done with.
If I backup the current bookmarks, the HTML file comes to 7.7 MiB and JSON file 7.3 MiB. How can I be sure those backup files actually contain my current 20k worth of links??
It just seems a small file size for such a large amount of links. I'm sure I've seen larger backup file sizes than that in the past but it could be that things have changed under the hood and things have got more compressed.
I can't really afford to discover that I've lost a load of links and folders when I come to set Firefox back up in a new distro (using import). It's bad enough Firefox ignores any current layout integrity when bookmarks get imported over into a new set up and I end up having to re-order everything over the following days. But I'm grateful that previous large (but smaller than this) backup bookmark files do usually end up whole.

Where are my saved websites saved? Also, am I able to "share" the file over my LAN? I have a desktop PC and a laptop connected to my network. What I would like to do is make it so whether I save (or bookmark?) a site on the laptop or desktop it is available on both. Does this make sense? If I need to do a better job explaining just let me know. Currently, I am successfully sharing the IE 'Favorites' folder so the links are always in sync and the same links are available on both of my machines.

I had firefox installed on the same partition as the windows I booted from. Due to an error this partition would no longer boot and I had to install windows and firefox clean on a seperate drive.
I've managed to get the partition working again and can access all the files on it again. Unfortunately when i load up the firefox on the previously failed partition it appears to load up the same version as I installed most recently. None of my old book marks are in the menu which is what I am trying to access. I've looked on here for help and the following don't seem to apply to me...
- There's no profiles folder in the old partition so I can't find Places.sqlite. - Troubleshooting>Show Folder points to the application data on the new install drive - There doesn't appear to be backup.json files on the old partition
So my question is is there anywhere on the old partition you can think where my old bookmarks may be stored?

In the previous versions of Firefox, when you click on the star near the url, you can add this website on your favorites. Another click and you can edit some fields about this bookmark, like the url, the folder, etc...
But with FF17, the Description field is no longer there. You can only find it when managing your bookmarks, that is not really user friendly.
Is there a way to add again the description field when clicking on the gold star? It's very useful for adding notes about this website, and it's also synch with addins like Xmarks
