Using Firefox version 99.0 (64bit). When I click "Bookmarks / Manage Bookmarks, the listing defaults to the "Other Bookmarks" folder. I would like it to default to the "Bookmarks Menu" folder. How do I make it do that?

After some time of using Firefox, opening Google somehow "breaks". Let me explain:

Upon starting FF, all works fine. After some time, however, say 5-10 minutes, when I click the URL bar and try to google something, nothing happens. If a page is already open, the browser will stay on this page. If I opened a new tab, the URL will change to the relevant google URL, but the actual tab won't change at all. Dev-Console shows an empty HTML page. It's not even attempting to load the page really, the network panel shows a single empty GET request to google and nothing more. Even if I try to go to google.com directly, nothing changes. Meanwhile, all other sites I tried (youtube, amazon, reddit, what have you) still load and behave normally. It's as if FF goes completely brain dead as soon and only if google is involved.

I can "circumvent" this by going to some other google product, say google docs, and then selecting google search in the "google apps" menu in the upper right. But the only way to "fix" it is to restart the browser entirely.

This only happens on the laptop provided by my employer and only since today. On my personal laptop, running the same version of FF with the same account and addons it works just fine. It even happens in troubleshoot mode with no addons running. Even a system restart doesn't fully fix this issue.

I'm really at a loss here, any help would be appreciated.

Here you will find a screenshot of what happens if I open a new tab and try to google "test". For whatever reason, it didn't let me upload to this form directly.

Followed instructions. Prefs. Privacy/Security. AutoPlay. Settings. But the screen does not look like the instructions and does not have check boxes. has box to enter url for exceptions but does not do anything. I don't want exceptions, I would like default to be autoplay off for all sites.

How do I do this. Thank you.

Hi there. I'm in the process of switching from Chrome and I want to import my passwords.

I first tried the 'import from Chrome' option - it says it's successful, but nothing has actually been added. Same result after several attempts.

I then tried the csv route. I found out I had to change the config settings, so I did just that, but the 'import CSV' option still isn't showing even after a reset.

So now I'm at a dead end. Any bright ideas please? TIA!

I have a new email address that I need to add in my profile. I have entered the new email but it seems to never have completed the process and doesn't show up as a secondary email, so I can remove the old address that I have been trying to close for 6 months. Now when I re-enter the address as an add, I get a message that it already exists and the page locks up...I can't do anything with it, except close it or go back 1 page. I would like to close the old address, but I can't since it is the only address to receive email from Firefox. HOW do I get this fixed and move on ?????? Thanks, Mitch

Hello, Last few days Firefox keeps automatically downloading strange files like mLZrOMIV.htm icFSREgF.htm

They are 0 bytes, empty when I open in notepad and if I right click in download section and select copy download link I just get about:blank

I checked PC for viruses using Eset Online tool and Windows defender. No problems.

Has anyone run into something like this?

It appears web sites can track my activity on their site. How do I make it so a given web site can't track me? Does Firefox have a setting that makes it more difficult to track me on a given web site? I've seen where a VPN, not sure what that is, can be of big help. How do I initiate a VPN and are there free VPN's? When I visit this particular site it states, "from your site login activity" and goes on from there what they want to do. How do I make it more difficult for a web site to be able to track my log in activity? Will a VPN solve this problem? Or, does Firefox have various accessories that can do the same thing? I know deleting cookies with this particular site does not solve the issue for me. Can someone help? Thank you.

I need to print out my saved passwords. I have no cellphone to access, just my laptop and printer. I only use Firefox and no other browser. If my laptop gets hacked or breaks down, then I need to use someone else's computer to access my passwords in an emergency, and can't access my passwords to do so...so printing them out periodically is the smartest thing I can think of.

Help, anyone? This is pretty important to me. Thank you!

Each time Firefox updates, the email client changes to the outlook default. The last 2-3 updates, mailto does not appear on the file,settings,applications menu. Nor will it populate if I type it in. I have tried every instruction to no avail. I am a long-time firefox user, non-techie and it is discouraging when things disappear with each update lately. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

My google drive keeps disconnecting, and google drive/google docs links are not working. I have attached a screenshot of the new tab page when I copy paste a google sheets document URL into the search bar and hit enter. After the reloading icon animates, I stay on the new tab page and the url just sits there. The debug console shows 1 GET request that is timed out (picture also attached).

I can fix the issue by completely closing all firefox windows and opening again, but it will disconnect me after some minutes.

Firefox keeps disabling addons randomly, some of them are made by mozilla even. I am getting them from the official addon site so they shouldn't be illegitimate ones. Let me know what information about my install I can give to help.

I've been noticing lately that Firefox takes a while to start loading pages after it requests a restart or recovers from a crash.

I've followed all the advice in the forums including disabling session restore, but the problem persists.

It seems to be doing a lot of disk activity when it restarts either after requesting a restart or if it crashes and I start it again.

Anything I can do to address this issue?

I have tried multiple times to just change my homepage. I am coming from Chrome, but I used to use Firefox a lot. I am going into my preferences almost daily to change my homepage to just the standard firefox home, because I thought I was just crazy. It will not save my preference though, and I have no clue why. I do not have any extensions enabled or installed other than the ones that come with a fresh install of firefox. I even have those disabled right now. I have some themes downloaded, but I only am using the one provided my Mozilla. Nothing is allowing to save changes.

I will change it, and for like the next few times I open my browser, it will be saved, but after a day, its gone. I still have no clue as to why.

Can anyone help out?

Hi everyone; Recently my FB account got hacked and I went through hell and back to get it recovered. Funny thing is, it still doesn't work, it did briefly for the initial login just enough time to enable a 2 step challenge for which I selected SMS, NOT any security key via USB. As you can see in the picture, every time when I try to login (or switch in FB from a backup account into the primary), I'll get this message. Now it's stating that it's a Firefox/Mozilla request but it only appeared after my FB was hacked, never before. Could a developer/SME please take a look at this? Current Version 99.0.1 (64-bit)

The right side of screen, scroll and keys (close, minimize, etc..) on menu bar not working, any fix? When I move the entire screen leftwards, then the scroll and keys work...

Hi, I'm trying to clear my cache and site data (in order to update my gmail signature), and each time I clear selected sites - namely gmail which had hundreds of thousands of GB cached - it just comes back. After tyring this 4-5 times, Youtube started having hundred of thousands of GB cached too!! So now, despite managing data an clearing these repeatedly, there's more than when I started. I think I'm stuck in a loop somewhere, please help! thanks in advance

Amazon 'Look Inside' pop-up does not work with FF as I've configured FF. Iv'e included a screen snip.

I've unchecked block pop-ups but still the 'Look Inside' doesn't work.

Firefox recently stopped playing embedded youtube videos on my phpBB forum site?

i keep the latest firefox and only recently showed up embedded videos play fine on Chrome and others

here's a link to my forum which includes an embedded Youtube video demonstrating the issue, does it play on your browser? (ONLY firefox has an issue on my computer, chrome, etc. work fine)
