Further to and in addition to the question asked by Pallas (March 13th, 2021), my question is the following: Is it safe to store all my usernames and passwords in Firefox Lockwise ? Or is it absolutely necessary to use a “Primary Password” ? In particular, is the use of this Primary Password absolutely necessary to protect the safety of my usernames and passwords against HACKERS or just in case my PC and/or device would be USED and/or STOLEN and/or otherwise physically tampered with by an other person ?

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

That is my opinion. Of course, if attackers penetrate your computer and can record your keystrokes as you type, then they will get the primary password, too, so it's not perfect.

The Primary Password protects the saved logins in the logins.json file in your Firefox profile folder, and also prevents using your saved logins if someone who didn't know the password were able to start the browser. So it is mostly relevant to a scenario where an attacker has physical (or remote) access to your PC.

Are there other kinds of hacks you are thinking of?

Thank you very much for your answer.

In other words, would it be right to understand and to conclude that it is not safe to store usernames and passwords in Firefox Lockwise without using a Primary Password because, absent such Primary Password, attackers with a physical or remote access to the PC would be able to operate its browser and then dispose of the then defenseless and unprotected usernames and password ?

Thank you again for your advice. Instead of leaving the Mozilla Firefox Community deal alone with this extremely important safety and security issue, I wish the Mozilla Firefox Foundation, as the Lockwise designer and expert would also give its opinion so that I may use Lockwise with the necessary confidence, which is unfortunately far from being the case for the time being. Thank you again.

Note that you unlock the passwords if you enter the PP during a session and this unlocking hasn't expired. When the passwords are unlocked then it is possible to access the passwords. You can relock the passwords by canceling a PP prompt.
