I have Thunderbird on a PC (Windows 10) and a MacBook Pro (OSx 10.12.6). No problem on the PC. When thunderbird starts up on the MacBook Pro a popup box appears with the words "Start download (imap)" at the top of the box, with "Cancel" button at the bottom. When I click on the Cancel box, a new box takes its place with "Kill". Clicking on that button allows me to use Thunderbird.

What is that all about, and how do I get rid of it?
