Tried downloading, only got blank screen except for Google box. Help, please.

Main problem is I tried downloading Firefox a number of times but only get a blank screen except for a blank Google box. I never get the full Firefox home screen. Why? Please help, I've spent hours on this, trying different methods to get Firefox only to end up with the same, incomplete result.
