Although I have the latest version of Firefox installed, I'm constantly getting the warning message that I AM USING THE OLD VERSION; what could be the issue here?

As I stated in the opening question (and also viewing "educated guesses" about my system and browser) - my Firefox doesn't seem to grasp that it has been upgraded to the newest version. Although the "About Firefox" tab in Help menu states that the current version IS 9.0.1 (i.e. the latest one). This also causes problems with Gmail service - Gmail aslo recognises my Firefox browser as the ancient one, and thus I can only use basic HTML view of Gmail. I've tried everything I can think of (short of upgrading my Windows to Win 7) - I've been updating to every new version regularly, uninstalling, reinstalling, trying different languages (even though I'm from Croatia, I prefer my Firefox and other programs to be in English, so I use Firefox UK version; but, I've tried Croatian version too, just in case - didn't help). As your educated guesses correctly guessed, I am using Windows Xp (pro, sp3, with all the security upgrades and updates as they come). I'm not so sure about "Installed plugins" - some I recognize, some not (for example, the Netscape thing - I've never had Netscape installed on this computer - well, not since 1993 on Win 95, which was like 4 computers ago; I even ran the search for term "Netscape" and it came out empty). I did have some problems updating MS .Net Framework - for some reason my comp won't accept those updates - could this be the somehow related with the Firefox issue I've been having? Please, if you know what may be wrong - do help.

Your User Agent shows that your are using Firefox 3.5.5; click "More system details" to the right of your original question and scroll down to see:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 GTB5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) FBSMTWB TTLSkins'''

See --> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Finding%20your%20Firefox%20version

The problem with your User Agent being changed could be caused by Fast Browser Search (FBSMTWB) being installed on your system:
Remove Fast Browser Search

I am not familiar with TTLSkins, do not know whether it could be affecting your User Agent.

THEN, reset your User Agent:

Do not worry about seeing "Netscape" in Plug-in names. I is a commonly used "cross-platform plugin architecture used by many web browsers".
