Why does my Verizon webpage no load?

I am using an iMac running OS X 10.6.8 

    I can start up FireFox, but the browser seems to hang up when I try to access my Verizon web site. The message I get is pasted below.
    I can still access this page if I use Safari, but I'd rather use FireFox.
