You asked for it. Since installing Firefox version 5 on this computer, it has worked fine on all sites and will play their videos just fine. However, if the link is a You Tube link, I can see the You Tube first fram with the play arrow just like with IE 8, but if I click on the play button it tries to play, but in a couple seconds give the message ther there is an unspecified error and to try again. Trying again on the link or restarting Firefox does not work.

The SAME site url can be pasted into the IE Browser screen and it will play the You Tube video perfectly. Same computer. Same time frame. No REAL error message as to what is missing. Obviously some browser link is missing that IE has.

I an go directly to You Tube with firefox and the files play with no errors. or I can play them with IE. I would rather not switch.

Possible clue: While installing Firefox 5 I got a quick, almost missed message saying that firefox 5 cold not work with the Real Player save video function. This has proven to be true also and may be related? I get the Real Player pop up just like with IE, but unlike IE which saves legal videos just fine, Firefox gives the message that the file can not be downloaded. Any site. Any video, thus making the Real Player useless for that function.

I have looked in all menus on Firefox and the plug in page. Nother seem to be disabled. Although you said this was the first time for this question, I noted in a comment on this site http://jazzlives.wordpress.com/2011/07/27/vince-bartels-swing-quartet-plus-at-sacramento-may-29-2011/ that the person making the first comment apparently has the same problem playing You Tube videos from another site. This sounds like my problem! No solution given by the web master other then to go to You Tube direct, which indeed does work. It should not be necessary to do that. IE can handle it. The previous version of Firefox had worked just like IE. No problems.

I do not believe it is my computer since the SAME computer works fine yet with IE8 Either a bug in Firefox or I am missing some software that was take out by Firefox 5 and not reinstalled.

Any help would be appreciated. Is this verbose enough? Going to IE to wach the videos or directly to You Tube.
