Happens regardless of whether typing URL into address bar or using link from Google search etc. Page usually displays OK when clicking the Retry button but occasionally takes several attempts. IE works OK. Have tried suggested fixes (proxy setting, ipv6, DNS prefetching, clearing cache etc.) Previous version of Firefox worked OK.

1. Disable the Skype extension for Firefox.

2. You don't need the Adobe DLM extension once Adobe plugins are updated; it is known to cause problems for some users.

3. Have you tried disabling that McAfee SiteAdvisor extension?

I've tried disabling all 3 but still have the same problem.

Today the problem seems to have resolved itself. As far as I can see there have been no updates to Firefox or any of the add-ons. I can only assume the problem was with my internet provider (BT) or Antivirus software (McAfee).

I have the same problem. I am using opensuse 11.3 first I have FF3.6.10 and I had this problem, so I updated the FF to 3.6.13, doesnt help.

The thing is, I'm sure that it is neither ISP or firewall problem. I am connected to the LAN of my university and I have a virtual box with windowsXP and firefox there works ok.

I also try to surf with opera on opensuse. I do not have any problem there. server not found is only occur with FF. with 1 or 2 refresh, it could load the page. Sometimes even 10 refresh doesnot help.
