I have an authentication problem that is specific to Ubuntu 20.04/Thunderbird 68.10 when authentication involves a google email account with an institutional name (login) server.

The problems has to do with token generation for authentication. The authentication works for Ubuntu 20.04/Thunderbird 68.10 with a straight gmail account. The authentication also works for windows/ TB 78 and a google email account with an institutional name (login) server. However, the authentication "does not work for Ubuntu 20.94/Thunderbird 68.10 and a google email account with an institutional name (login) server, e.g., xyz@abc.edu. The process goes smoothly through login to google, which directs one to the institutional login, dual verification, and then the message comes back from TB: authentication failure. Apparently, Thunderbird is yet ready for an update 78 on Ubuntu. I think it is bug in TB. Any idea about a solution if it is not a bug.
