Recover Firefox Tabs from Broken PC

I have a quite specific problem regarding Firefox Sync: My personal computer had a technical problem about a month ago and I had to send it to the manufacturer. They told me that they cannot repair the device - or recover my data. For a case like that, I was fortunately prepared and have made regular backups (important folders; not including Firefox folder). I have (100% sure) activated Firefox Sync a long time ago to make sure something like that does not make me lose data.
However, for reasons unknown, I am not able to restore my tabs on a new computer: I am logged in in Firefox, my old PC is shown in the settings as a connected device. I can access my history as well as my bookmarks but it seems as none of my tabs were synced, although I am really sure that I had Sync enabled for tabs as well. I had about 80 tabs (I know...) opened on my old PC.
Can anybody help me? I would really like to recover my tabs...

Thank you for your question about the Firefox Sync service.
It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.
If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of this article.
If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

Thank you for the very quick and helpful reply! This is very bad news for me though. Fortunately, my bookmarks were saved and could be imported into the new computer but it seems like my open tabs are gone for good, if I read your answer correctly. Is there any other option than a saved profile backup (that I do not have) that could bring the open tabs back, that you know of?
