Can I force all users to use the same profile?

more options

Many of my users access a web based application (Cisco Finesse) to log into our phone system. Each time they move to another desk Firefox needs to be configured for Finesse for that user. This is the only thing they use Firefox for.

Is there a way to force all users to use the same Firefox profile so that once one user of a particular PC has been set up in Finesse all subsequent new users use the same profile and therefore also also set up for Finesse?

Thanks

You could do that, but some like to set up their browsers how they want.

Suggestion: Mozilla Firefox :Portable Edition http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition

A fully functional package of Firefox optimized for use on a USB key drive. A specialized launcher will allow most favorite extensions to work as you switch computers.

Firefox Portable is a 3rd-party build. Support is available here: http://portableapps.com/forums/support/firefox_portable

You can use sync to share data between profiles. But some data cannot be shared between different versions.

I guess I didn't make myself clear.

Staff use Firefox for one thing and only one thing. Firefox is not their default browser. They are not permitted to use it for anything else and they are not permitted to make any changes whatsoever and they certainly are not allowed to use a thumb drive.

Then I see no problem.

What does that involve? You might be able to use a combination of Enterprise policy and Autoconfig.

Or to address your other question:

By default, the location of the user's Firefox profile is in the Windows user profile (AppData\Roaming\etc.). There is a pair of configuration files within that path that could point to a shared folder (installs.ini, profiles.ini), but I don't know whether you can easily introduce those files to each new user's profile, or control that setting from a central location.
