I finally upgraded to Win10 and to my surprise Firefox 57 does not clear cookies from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ocy0d10c.default\cache2\entries

[Note folder name may vary from ocy0d10c.default per machine]

Why doesn't Mozilla fix this? I have to manually delete them regularly. I found this folder first using CCleaner, which regularly does clear this folder via the clear cookies option. At the time I discovered it it had some 13,000 files. This slowed and slows my computer considerably if I don't keep up.

It would be very helpful not to have to manually check this folder and remove cookies, if the FF tool for clearing cookies would please incorporate this folder? Thanks.

When you delete it manually, does it come back?

Firefox doesn't store cookies in the cache, but copies of pages and files from your browsing are in there. You can clear the cache any time you like. See: How to clear the Firefox cache.

  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data

How much disk cache space is Firefox using if you check this on the about:cache page?

You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar

  • "about:" is a protocol to access special pages

In Firefox the disk caches are distinct from cookies. There is local storage that follows the same permission rules as set for cookies.

So as mentioned in above replies nothing to fix as Cookies and the Cache are separate things. Just clear your Cache in Firefox if you want it cleared.

Using Ccleaner to clean stuff in Firefox can actually cause problems as most regulars here and at the independent forums.mozillazine.org forum would say you should not let Ccleaner touch anything Firefox related.
