So, the ftp site with older versions has no exe files.

all files have either no ext or .asc (ascii?).

Can anyone please explain what these files are, and how I implement them once saved to disk?

I note that every other person who asked this (or similar about reverting to older versions) got challenged as to why - without any valid answers.

If we can just avoid that and stick to the question, I would appreciate it.

Many thanks.

You sure you are looking in the right place? https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

For Firefox 46.0.1 on Windows since you are using WinXP. https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/46.0.1/win32/en-US/ or pick you own language at https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/46.0.1/win32/

Oh I see you were looking on say https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/46.0.1/ and not going into the win32 folder which is the 32-bit Firefox for Windows. The win64 is 64-bit Firefox for Windows though one needs 64-bit Windows 7, 8 (8.1), 10 to run Win64 Firefox.

Only Firefox 46.0.1 and 45.1.1esr are up to date on security fixes as older versions are potentially vulnerable in not having security fixes since. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/known-vulnerabilities/

I finally found the exe.

Now, I'm gonna vent.

Thanks, Mozilla. really frickin helpful!

What beats me is that in all the years since it was netscape, the mem leak has never been fixed, you do underhand shit now like MS and google, the dev tools get worse and worse - coz you are always trying to copy google - no innovation from you.

And what makes it really bad and stupid is that I still advocate firefox over msie or chrome.

After 20+ years, I should know when to quit a bad relationship.

You have no respect for me, nor any of your other long-time advocates.

Why the hell should we continue to worship you?

Why the hell should we continue to worship you?

It's a web browser or gawds sake, not deserving idolatry.

Hi rockmo, what circumstances are associated with the memory leak? There isn't a generic explanation for memory leaks: it seems each problem needs to be nailed down and fixed individually. Please file a bug if you find one.
