I have an issue with printing. I'm wondering how and if, you can set predetermined print setting depending on which printer you select.

I have a need to sometimes print to a receipt printer, and then sometimes to a laser printer.

It in order to print correctly, the printer has to be selected. You then have to select properties next to the selected printer, and set the paper type. It looks like you may be able to set the paper type per printer under about:config, but under paper type it ask for an integer. I've have not been able to find a value that represents the correct paper type.

How can it be setup so that when the receipt printer is selected it always chooses receipt paper, and when the laser printer is selected it always selects letter paper?

I think your best bet is to set the default paper at the Windows level, so that when you choose that printer in Firefox, Firefox can retrieve that default setting.

If this is a printer connected to your PC by USB, rather than a printer managed by a network server, you also can create two "printers" pointed at the same device, each of which has its own settings.

The printer settings are already set at Windows level accordingly. This does not appear to transfer to what the browser uses. The browser seems to only use one setting. Selecting a different printer does not change the paper type or settings. So if the laser print was printed to, you have to make sure that correct paper type is selected. If I then need to print a receipt, when selecting the receipt printer I have to change it back to receipt paper.

If Firefox is not reading the settings from Windows, try clearing the stored preferences for that printer. This involves a lot of right-clicking, but hopefully then you will get the settings imported correctly.

The reset procedure is described in the following article. I think the settings you want to focus on can be selected by filtering on print_paper in the Search box once you've opened the about:config preferences pane.

I've have done that before. It didn't seem to fix this particular issue. But looking around in the about:config is where I noticed each individual printer listed, with preference options available for each. I searched the web briefly and couldn't find any useful information regarding how to configure each of these options.

I noticed an option for paper type and hoped that each printer could be configured accordingly. Do you know if this is possible?
